A New Jersey surgeon has embedded under his skin tiny computer chips that can automatically transmit personal information to a scanner, a technology that his employer hopes will someday be widely used as a way to identify people.
After reading this I had mixed emotions. On one hand it can be very helpful and on the other it could be construed as invasion of privacy.
it is a great tool for use in certain circumstances. felons during incarceration and parole, and military personel come to mind. obviously, it also has a great potential for abuse. this should be an interesting discussion.

Not gonna happen in the military unless it's encrypted. Then it's useless in most cases.
These things have been out for quite a few years. For instance, those Mobil gas station keychains that charge your fillup to your credit card. They have always been quite small.

yes, in outside stuff. but not implantable for humans. and it wouldnt need to be encrypted for the military. you just would have it sending a code rather than a name. and only the services would have the codes referenced to a name. so anyone else that reads one with mischief in mind, would just get a bunch of letters and numbers that are meaningless. i guess this is a form of encryption.
