Washington Techway is announcing that the "Internet Sector" of the D.C. area economy is gone in their in-depth Article predicting trends in the upcoming year. "We really don't have an Internet sector anymore," says an expert. "The Internet will be used as a channel as opposed to an entire business." Telcos are predicted to be "focusing their spending in areas that are related to retaining and attracting customers and their shifting it away from infrastructure and building the backbone." Meanwhile, an upswing is seen for biotechnology and firms dealing with the federal government.

No such thing as a free lunch! Revenue desperate companies are betting businesses and consumers will start forking over cash for Internet content and services.
