Diablo 2 Mods

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Ion Silverbolt

Anyone around here try out one of those Diablo 2 mods out yet? I played one for Hellfire Diablo this weekend and it was actually pretty fun. It made me wonder if any of the current Diablo 2 mods are any good. Anyone here have any experience with one of them yet?

Never tried one and probably never will try one.

That's not what I asked and I don't give a care if you never try one. I don't play on battle.net or care about what people think of mods. I just want user input on whether there's a good one out there or not. If you don't have any input to add about them from use, then keep your happy meal ass out of this thread.

I want a mod that makes the game harder and balances some things. Maybe at least one that removes dumb spell effects like dying from invisible charged bolts.

I'll probably just try one at random if no one has tried any yet. I want to try one to make the game fun for me. I don't care what people think about mods. You can't even play mods on battle.net anyway.

Wtf? That is what you asked, and I'll put my happy meal ass in whatever thread I want.

If you read the whole paragraph, it's not hard to figure out that i'm asking user input from people who have already tried to use one. Not whether or not they will ever try one.

If you continue to troll, you can always be stripped of your posting priveledges.

I did read the whole paragraph.
You could have given me a normal reply instead of that happy meal ass crap and I wouldn't have made that second reply but don't worry, you won't hear from me again.

A few months ago bishop and I were playing a mod called eastern sun. It did a lot of things to the game, and only required you to replace the patch_rt.mpq file.
Made the game more fun, but not quite more balanced.

I don't know what got your panties in a bunch, but there's no need to be confrontational ...

Let's keep it nice ... if you have nothing useful to contribute ... don't ... case closed...

Back to the topic: I haven't tried any D2 mods yet ... I was supposed to try one almost a year ago, but I lost the URL - it was one of Varaya's mods, I think ...

lol, im an idiot, but wuts a mod?

Oh yes, I remember eastern sun.

I think had about 30+ to all skill points by a bit of carefull tweaking with jamella.

Then of course there was that 7 sockets on an item ability and ES having every item with a gem that increases one skill level.

Way I see it, legitly it brings back the fun in the game.

**** the balance, I want a slaughtermachine.

Does get old after a while though, although now I think they tweaked it a bit (as well as adding a whole new batch of items, couple that with d2x and you're packing more items than you can threaten the uninstall shortcut with).

A "mod" is short for "modification". Mods are third party (as in not licensed or from the original producer of the game) enhancement generally from a gamer who feels he/she can make the game better. Mods can add lots of tweaks, add maps, add units, or in extreme cases make a new game.

In short, mods are an excellent way to extend game play from a title you bought.

I played a drop mod the other day (badass drops each time) and theres dif mods that dif things, most change cube size or make it riducuosly hard or easy www.phrozenkeep.com

Is there a mod that gives like +10 stat points and +2 skill points per lvl up and allows more than lvl 20 on a skill? That would a be a cool mod. I dont usually like to use mods, but I would make an acception for that one.

I found a mod that increases the amount and toughness of creatures and increases the drop ratio. If you play with non hacked characters it makes the game really challenging but you get lots of goodies to compensate...just dont start the game at level 1!!
