Warcraft III beta sign-ups next month

Players interested in beta testing Blizzard's upcoming real-time strategy can sign up starting January 7.
Blizzard has announced that it will hold beta sign-ups for Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, its upcoming real-time strategy game, next month. The 24-hour sign-up period will begin on Monday, January 7, 2002 at 11:00pm PT and end on Tuesday, January 8 at 11:00pm. Blizzard will randomly select 5,000 beta testers from the pool of qualified applicants based on a variety of system configurations and locations. The beta test will be run on Battle.net, Blizzard's online game service, and it will let players control all four of the game's playable races
Blizzard also released a new screenshot from the game, which we have posted in the gallery above. Warcraft III is scheduled for release in mid-2002.

lol nova........ im defintetly gonna sign up i think WC3 is gonna own and itll definetly be more challening then D2 ever was....

RTSs are just such damn boring games. Once you've played one, they are all the same. The units change, the graphics change, but it's all the same annoying, boring game.
I just don't understand how anyone can play RTS games for an extended amount of time.

D2 and Warcraft III are two completely different game types, I dont see how you can compare them.
If I get into the WCIII beta, thats all fine and dandy, but im not gonna buy it. After what happened with D2, the only thing that I would buy from blizzard now is a New Starcraft game.

I'll sign up for the beta so that if I get it, I can just laugh at people who want it, since I won't be using my copy, except for maybe a quick peek at the graphics.

Diablo 2 and LoD suck more than I can express in words.
War3 was looking pretty sweet last year at E3 (I spent most my time there playing it haha) I hope they didn't **** it up since then . . .

My next blizzard game that I might play is WoW. Only catch is that it's probably still 3 years away, minimum.
