IE5/IE6 - scattered files

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I'm wondering if there is a solution to this . and it would be nice to find out WHY this happens??

I was running IE5.... upgraded to IE6 a few months back.. the last month or so I started noticing when Norton ran its scan it was taking forever .... I watched what files were taking so long and I found that a sub directory within my temporary internet folder called

Content IE5 is there and within it there are several folders that are filling up with files ....

everything that I view it seems, graphics/cookies and:

then tons and I mean TONS of files that are simply called [1],[2] and so on .. the files sizes are all ZERO

I spent the better part of a night deleting over 30, 000 files ...... I dump my temp files each night... but these are NOT affected by this (they do not empty) - therefore I didnt know they existed.

Since dumping all of them .... I took another look, once again they are building up .... (not in my temporary internet folder - that is set to empty when i close my browser) HOWEVER, the files within that subdirectory IE5 keep filling up...... any clue how I can stop this from happening ?

One more thing to maybe consider ..... there are Oh I think maybe 9 data files there ...... I never remove those I did remove one of them and lost my inbox (OE) - that was a SHOCKER lol .....

anyone here update to 6, and see this IE5 as a subdirectory now within your temporary internet folder?
