Hey there at OTS, this is my first post and so far this layout of post is really good, I come from Shoryuken.com and Tekkenzaibatsu, so im glad to be here.

I am trying to connect 2 computers to play starcraft broodwar over a lan. One is Running windows 98 and has the IPX protocol installed and configured, the other machine has Windows 2000 set up on it and also has the IPX protocol. The Network is set up correctly because we can both access our network shared folders. But it is not picking up the games that we create. Both are 1.08 versions of starcraft broodwar, and we both are connecting using LAN IPX option. Is there something wrong???

Please help

Take a look below first and see if anything there helps you. IF not, post back.

I have the same problem. I don't have a real network, I use ICS because I'm cheap. I think a penalty is that some LAN games just won't cooperate--or at least that's been my experience. So far, I've been able to cajole Battle Realms into letting me match my housemate (it's really temperamental), but StarCraft just doesn't want to hear it. Are you using Internet Connection Sharing? Because if you are, I think there is no way. Either way, with no other info, I'd first suggest that you set both of the machines' IPX frame type to 802.3. You probably knew that already.

Done done done, i did that , wtf!! hmmm the key matter is that it doest pick up the games we create...., im going to install 2000 on my laptop and see if that might help it , brb!

I've finally been able to get StarCraft working on my cheapy-cheapy ICS LAN. My housemate runs 2K and I run XP; I'm the gateway to our cable company, so of course I have two network cards. I was able to create and join our LAN games only after I DISABLED the outbound network card. I guess StarCraft objected to the fact that one computer seemed to have two IP addresses...? But at any rate, maybe this is a solution to the LAN problem for many people. Hope this helps somebody, I know I flipped my lid when I figured it out (after, like, four months of living here...)
