Are you using Aol Dial-up?
Also:
What version of Aol are you using?
What message does it give you when you are booted?
And what OS are you running?

To connect to Battle.net via AOL, make sure you are running the latest version of the AOL software.
To check the version you are using:
Run AOL
Click on Help from the menu
Select "About America Online"
For information on downloading and installing the latest version of AOL:
Connect to AOL
Click on the Keyword button
Type "UPGRADE" then click GO
Select the latest AOL version available.
Follow the Online Instructions
Make sure you are connecting to AOL with parental controls turned off.
If you have continuing problems try logging onto AOL using the Main Account.
You can also try connecting to AOL using a different local access number.
Hope this helps.

Try to download a free ISP like Netzero (if it is still free). Try to connect to B.net using that.

Depending on the parental settings, AOL has the capability to block all packets on the domain.

well, if you have aol, you should have several numbers set to dial. just edit the numbers after the first screen before you connect.

aol is known to shut down on low system resources. Try shutting down all except explorer & systray before starting DII & aol. This usually helps alot.
I do not know about 7.0 but in the older versions, you had to make sure that 32 bit access was on. There were also some problems on specific machines with aol's compression of graphics.
Parental controls should have nailed you the first time in not the second, if this were the issue. I still use aol. I do not have these problems on bnet. Lag - yes - and if it's busy, lots of it.
