The Business Software Alliance, a software trade group enforcing license and copyright restrictions, is offering a limited amnesty program this month to businesses using illegally copied software. Under the new system, businesses can perform a comprehensive software audit and begin paying proper license fees for all applications in use without suffering penalties for past transgressions, which could possibly run as high as $150,000 in each instance of copyright infringement.
