Hi
My friend wants to know how he can enable File Transfers on ICQ with his router. He needs to know the port number that ICQ uses for File Transfers.
He's using Windows XP.
Umm yeah post back if you need more info
and thanks in advance.

Hello,
Well I dont actually use ICq, but with all IM, they're pretty generic.
With your router, you have to go into the router interface software, and go into an area like "virtual server" or "application" something along those lines.
After that first see if you can choose ICQ from a list if its available, if it isn't then you'll have to mess around so that you can choose a port number and open it up for ICQ, remember this number, go into ICQ and use that port number.
You might have to put your ip into a DMZ if it's absolutely crucial, but you put yourself at risk, as you do when you open up an "special" ports.
Hope it helps
