counter-strike patch for cs?

ive heard that there was a patch for people running cs under windows xp  since i got windows xp i cant play cs because if i install it my profile crash when i boot my pc ... plz tell me if theres one !

sorry about last subjet .. is there any patch of cs for windows xp ..
==> problem: i install cs , i play , i reboot , and it says that my profile is corupted... it says that it will do a temporary one but even if i makes changes to it once i reboot it will all be gone..

I haven't heard of one, but I also haven't been doing anything with CS lately.

ya i did that already and theres no patch. a friend of mine said to install half-life and after dl counter strike from counter-strike.net so ill try that and see if it works!
