Can anyone recommend any DVD ROM drivers? I want to buy one, but I've never been a customer in this market, and I know nothing about.
Looking for a reliable drive, with a decent price.
Thanks for any help.

Pioneer ... altho may be a bit pricier than other drives. Yamaha and Toshiba are decent ones. I haven't tried the Creative ones so I can't say much about those...

I have a toshiba and i thinks its pretty good. I would stay away from creative, I have trouble installing 2 different creative drives on 2 diff comps.

My Pioneer drive works great, but like Laggy said, it was a bit more pricy than the other ones.

Hmmm... I bought a cheap ARTEC 16X DVD Drive (how cheap you say...$100 beaver bucks) to replace my cheap 50x CD ROM. It plays beautifully with the Theater chip found on my Radeon. You can read more about it here.
I like the drive. Maybe not the best, but I think not the worst out there either, and can be had for a cheap price

i have a creative CDRW and it is bad. So if the DVD ROMS are like the CDRW stay away

I like Lite-On drives. Installed 3 so far and none have had problems. They're nicely priced too.
Pioneer does make one of the best drives out there tho.

I concur - bought a 24x/10x/40x LiteOn for Christmas and been very satisfied. Both with price and performance.

I also say stay away from creative drives. Nothing but trouble from the ones I have installed, and trust me I did it right. I would also say stay away from the compact disc brand that is put in the gateways. We are on our 3rd at work. As far as CDRW's I would suggest HP. All three computers in my home have them and they haven't given me any trouble at all.

For CDRW you should get plextor. I think it's more important to get quality with CDRW's cuz in the long run it might save you a lot of wasted CDs
They also have Burn Proof technology, which as far as I know is the only company that has this technology.

Every burner that's 12x speed or higher has burnproof, it's just not always called the same, Lite-on has Smartburn, That's Write has Justlink, etc.
