E-Machines back from the dead

In keeping with their tradition of making piece of crap computers (that can't be upgraded very well) and selling them for high prices.....E-Machines announced its new product line up today. The budget PC maker launched on Tuesday five new products, priced between $399 and $799 after rebates, all of which use at least 1GHz processors.
The latest lineup also includes a twist: a new desktop based on Advanced Micro Devices' Athlon XP 1600+ chip. The T1400 PC is Emachines' first to use an AMD chip in about a year and a half. The machine pairs the 1600+ chip with 256MB of SDRAM, a 40GB hard drive and a CD-rewritable drive for $599 after a $75 rebate.
At least they are starting to learn and going with AMD in one of their models this time.

Go here and check it out!

they were junk to begin can only get worse with a AMD inside....
if ur on a budget Dell refurb is what i would do if u gotta buy a prebuilt comp off the shelf. no wacky rebates taht sign u up with AOL or MSN for 3 years.

Yeah, emachines suck. Get one for your grandparents, don't buy one if you respect your ability as a computer user.

I beg your pardon...how does an AMD CPU equate to junk?

Don't ask, Chako. We've went over this...many, many, times with Janna.

its my opinion thank u very much!!
ur taking what i said out of context also. i did not say AMD was junk i said Emachines were junk. the meaning being that AMD takes a lot of attention to detail to keep running read further since i seem to have to spell it out each time.
right now i see it that way because of the endless updates needed to keep em going. constantly reading about this or that incompatability. constantly seeing them having heating and cooling problems. emachines being the junk they are to begin with cannot help but have those problems expanded by introducing a chipset into the mix that is not exactly the easiest thing to maintain.
i have no problems with anyone buying one IF they understand the differences in building and owning a AMD chipset opposed to one from intel. any AMD person will tell u that it takes a lot more care to build a AMD box than it does to make a intel one.
So if u put a amd chipset into a emachine that ALREADY is less than stable ur bound to expand the problems

Fair enough

one last thing... heh.... i dont have a problem with the amd CPU itself its the chipset taht i dont think is a good buy. this prevents me from owning a AMD. I am looking forward to seeing how well Nvidia does with their chipset for the AMD. IF they do as good a job with the chipset for the K7 as they did with the gforce for the xbox my next upgrade just may be a AMD riding on on a Nvidia motherboard. my main complaint has always been the stability problems inherent in the chipsets that have come out for the AMD cpu's in my opinion there hasnt been a decent board for AMD cpu since the K5. and to date there still isnt. hence im forced to pay more to get what i perceive to be a more stable computer. (this doesnt mean ur own personal box is unstable) it merely means i do not wish to risk time and money on a system that has a good chance of having a bad motherboard out of the box.

I respect everyones opinions...but my first venture into an amd has been quite painless.... before i built my amd system... I had a p4 system nothing but trouble...its currently dead in the garage waiting for me to deal with it.... My AMD on the other hand was put together with less money(partially cause some parts carried over) and the over all setup, and the time to dial it in was much faster. The VIA drivers installed great, no problems at all.. since owning this system I have had... zero random restarts... etc etc... it has been a good experience.
If we talk P4 i start to get angry....install the chipset drivers... system is hosed... memory prices outrageous(no sdram solution available at the time) AGP video card incompatiblities(bye bye voodoo 5), 3 weeks without my computer because it was down and out.... blah
heh... bargain anything = trouble....you get what you paid for.
