roxio cd creator 5 plat.

i installed easy cd creator 5 platinum. the presets (yes, i got the update) did not have a listing for my new samsung 24x burner, but it let me type it in manually. i ran a test inside of easy cd creator and it recognizes my drive speed, etc. i went to burn an 80min (24x compatable) cd. the cd was filled to the last minute with music but the burn process still took about 10 minutes. the progress meter said the burn would take approx 4 minutes, but like i said it took closer to 10. so in summary:

i have:
800mhz
256RAM
win98
24x samsung burner
--> software indicates a short burn time but the clock counts SLOOOOW and the burn for a 80min cd (full with music) took 10 minutes....

--> what to do, what to do?

...THANKS!

My experience with Roxio's CD Creator is that the time range will always be off. I've installed it on many, many different kinds of computers (different processor speeds, different kinds of burners, different speeds of burners, etc -- I work for a very, very large organization). It's always had the same result - the time it indicates is off.

We (my company) considers it a defect in the software itself and have not bothered to correct it.. rather, we take a more zen-like approach.. "It'll be done burning in a minute.. I dunno, it'll be done when it's done..."

If anyone knows how to correct this, let me know!

Are you copying directly from another cd or from your hd? And if it's from your hd, are it .wav's or .mp3's?

Goto device management and check if DMA is enabled on all cdrom drives and hd's.

It should be done in about 4 mins, unless something is slowing it down.

EDIT: Also, try disabling burnproof/justlink/smartlink/whatever and do a test burn and see if it can complete that without errors.
