3) The Sims; Electronic Arts - $44>br? 4) MP Roller Coaster Tycoon; Infogrames Entertainment - $20

Nothing new to me, I've seen worse ... remember when the top five games were three flavors of Barbie and two Deer Hunter games?

Most of those games suck, but you have to give Civilization III and Empire Earth (a very cool game) a chance. That chart is not really a omen that PC games suck, it really says that most of the audiance for PC games are ignorant of what is good, or that parents having been buying the games...

Thoose lists have always only been a list of games that are simple enough for idiots to understand and fun enough to provide hours of moronic gameplay.

Complex games making it to theese lists are a very rare thing indeed.

These games suck like crap. It doesn't measure how Pc games suck, it measures how bad people's tastes in games have become (or how the bad tastes continues to this generation)

Well the problem is, almost all PC games of 2001 sucked. Diablo 2 Expansion topped the list for the longest for 2001 and that game stunk. The only reason Diablo 2 did so well was because people love Action/RPG style games and Diablo 2 was the only thing to come out that even remotely looked fun in that department.

Dungeon seige should be good. Microsoft doesn't publish crappy games and GPG's sounds like it's lead by some respectable programmers.

That's a very good point. There have been a lot of games that got rave reviews but didn't sell so hot. Deus Ex got game of the year but it never got recognized like Half-Life or Quake 3.

On the other token, Diablo 2 sold extremely well mainly on Blizzard's name alone and the fact that the original was good. That game looks so crappy and plays so unbalanced that it isn't even funny. I'm surprised a lot of people still play it.

i thoroughly enjoy lod, and i like the sims too :P

i also love deeper games like civ3 and bg2. and i think dungeon seige looks promising. some of us have a wide variety of tastes, from the pedestrian to the bizarre.

I have civ3 and EE.... Civ3 was fun at first... I played it for 2 weeks....its collecting dust.... EE = AOE clone with some new features, and extra bugs.

Maybe I should try these sim games

Flight sims used to be cool....eh but 20+ lane dog fights are only fun for soo long....

damn...games do suck... and isnt that horrible, cause I cant do much with my other hobby(cars) now cause its too cold... and im sure the car would benefit from a buff job...

Its seems the gaming market is well, slowing down. What it needs is a revolution and new innovations. Computers are getting faster and Microsoft actually made an OS more stable then Win2k (and so they say). CD RW are becoming more common and less expensive. The only thing missing are killer apps and games. 2002 is gonna hold a lot of interesting possibilities.

Deus Ex 2.

Thief 3.

I'm not having much of a problem choosing games right now - mostly because I'm too busy to even buy a new game

Right now I'm playing is MTG Online Beta, Subspace and an occasional game of Quake 3 ... I don't stick with one game for too long coz I usually get sick of it ...

The only games I'm looking forward to are Dungeon Siege and NWN ... most of the other upcoming games don't appeal to me

Posted by: Null Actor

Looking forward to NWN is a good way to end up dissappointed.

im still playing UO Combat flite simulator2 european air war and halo. the only game in the entire list of PC games that looks like it has promise is Jedi Knight2. if NWN had of been released on time with its promised features it might have been good. but from what i understand its going to be just another lame Baldur's gate style game.

lame? thems fightin words.

Im comming into this post pretty late, but what exactly is wrong with "The Sims" series?

I own the sims, livin large and house party and find it to be a great game.

Am I about to be flamed?

Posted by: Bishop

flamed, no.

shot, maybe.

I'm only looking forward to deus ex 2 and thief 3.

the rest of them can go to hell.

Q4 and JK2 will be good, but they aren't going to be out this year (and if they are, they'll probably suck).

I hope warren gives me at least a couple of months with deus ex 2 before throwing thief 3 out to the market.

I don't think I could possibly play them both at the same time.

Posted by: Null Actor

Actually, it's quite likely you'll see thief 3 much sooner than deus ex 2.

DX2 isn't gonna be out this year. Or at least, not likely.

Thief 3 however, could be.
