Max Payne review (X Box)

Voodoo Extreme has taken a look at the new Max Payne port to the X Box. Sounds like it ports well. Here's a snip:
While it took some doing for me to get accustomed to the game pad control (as opposed to my preferred mouse/keyboard configuration), I found that Max Payne worked extremely well as a console title. It's far and away the best third-person action game I've ever played, boasting an involving (if occasionally cheesily-told) story and pulse-pounding gameplay. Max Payne should, without a doubt, be sitting right next to Halo on every action-loving XBox fan's game shelf.

To me, Max Payne was extremely overrated. Its an incredibly simple 3rd person shooter with a catchy little gimmick ( the bullet time feature ). I played the PS2 port and it was really dissappointing. I have read that the Xbox version is vastly superior.

i rented max payne tuesday nite against Vin's better judgement... and returned it last nite on a five day rental. the storyline was incredibly stupid. gameplay non existant. the guns were kinda cool. after using the bullet stop time feature once or twice i finished the rest of the game with out that annoying feature. AI was extremely dull. art work was bad. both the character art and the story telling sequence art. if this version for xbox was best out then i would hate to see the other versions. coupled with the constant incessant level loading which should not occur with the xbox (except for lazy porting or programing), the action/fighting sequences were dull and extremely repetitive. the way the story was delivered was extremely lame. saying max payne is equal to halo is next to asinine. that guy at voodoo extreme obviously is not knowing a thing. its probably the worst fps/3rd person game i have ever played. Halo being best with HalfLife tied for second with Jedi Knight and its sequel. the only redeeming thing about max payne is when u kill a enemy u get the weapon he was using.
