For those of you who have been considering the laptop as a gaming platofrm may want to read this article over at Got apex.
When it comes to notebook performance in the past in was a given that a PC would clearly outperform a laptop and therefore be more beneficial as a workstation. The times are changing, however. We now have 1GHz+ laptops stocked with 64MB of video memory as well as 512MB of system memory. Considering such specifications are the industry's standard for desktop PCs, the performance of today's notebooks allows for work in more sophisticated applications without worry of a slowdown. It is critical for a notebook to be able to execute multi-tasking with ease if there is any alternative to the workstation. Taking these factors into consideration, we ran a few benchmarks using Sisoft Sandra 2002 to determine if our new 8100 was up to the task of replacing our desktop workstation.
Looks like a good review if you're considering a performance laptop. The nVidia nV17 mobile chipset is due out soon so it doesn't seem too viable to buy a GF2 Go platform however.
