Digital TV Protections - Here We Go Again

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

EETimes has some news on a meeting that will be held on proposals for digital TV protection:

Members of the Copyright Protection Technical Working Group (CPTWG) will get their first look at a DTV protection proposal at a meeting the week of Jan. 14 in Los Angeles. The proposal already exists as a proposed draft standard in the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) and has been proposed to top consumer electronics manufacturers.

I don't see blocking the download, but you cannot go out and buy TV broadcasts. People download show copies if they've missed an episode, or just want to rewatch it. Most of them are still paying for the service. I don't really see an alternative to seeing a show again, other than waiting on a replaying. Yet another board recieving pay for no reason.
