nVidia card owners
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Just in case you have never went into the advanced properties of your display driver, you might be missing out on a cool setting called digital vibrance. This setting really brings the color out in everything.
To check your digital vibrance setting, Right click on the desktop and select properties. From there, select the settings tab, then the advanced tab. Now select the color correction tab and you will see a setting called digital vibrance. Move it up and see if you like what it does to your colors.

Good tip Ion.
This is a nice simple way to enhance the colors on your screen without messing with a Red/Green/Blue adjustment system.
I can't speak to all the different NVidia chips, but I get the impression that this option may be limited to owners of a Geforce series of card. I also have a system running a TNT with the latest drivers and this option is not available.
Too bad to, older monitors tend to need a bit more help.

Thanks Ion! I never saw it. Great tip!
Thanks again.

My GeForce 2 GTS doesn't have it either.
Posted by: Spider
Not on the GeForce 2 Ultra either.
Posted by: mjames
Thanks for the tip, Ion. I adjusted mine to medium and it made a difference.
Posted by: Chako
Well, I know its not on my Radeon. I post this here just in case someone with a different brand other then Nvidia goes a looking.
Posted by: Spider
I think it's only a feature on GeForce 3's.
Posted by: Bobaroo
Not on my TNT2 either, I will look for it when i get my GF3
Posted by: Ion Silverbolt
Bummer. I figured at least the GF cards would have it and not just the GF3's. I know their GF2 Go laptop chipset supports digital vibrance.
Posted by: Gunslinger
Not on my GF Pro either.
Posted by: The-AoD
I don't have that, but I have a program that I got with some bundle package with something or another, it's called E-Color and it's pretty good for that. I've seen the digital vibrance in effect, and E-Color comes close, but not close enough to the actual thing. I can say this though, almost any card can run E-Color, but it requires 16-bit or higher color

Not true, it worked on my GeForce 2 MX.
Posted by: Null Actor
Might be GF2 MXs and higher.
GF2 MX is newer than any other GF2.
Posted by: Outlaw
Not newer than a GTS2 Ti, and that doesn't have it either.
Posted by: TotalRecall
Doesn't work on my GF2 GTS. Nova could be correct, but this seems more like a driver type thing.
Posted by: Null Actor
I doubt the GF2 Ti is a new card. It's just a new name.
Posted by: TueurDelite
yeah well i dont got that option on my card * GF2 Ti * would have been fun
Posted by: Darky!
Maybe its a driver thing?
Dunno, but the Geforce Ultra doesn't have it either
Posted by: Null Actor
Hmmm... maybe it has something to do with the DAC the video card uses, because that tends to vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.
Posted by: The-AoD
My PNY GeForce 2 MX400 doesn't have it.. :\
Posted by: Spider
Well then ELSA's GF2 Ultra doesn't have it. Heh.
Posted by: Null Actor
Mine's a visiontek. Think Ion has an asus.
Posted by: Foogar
I've got it on mine using the latest detonators. I never installed any drivers specific to the manufacturer
Posted by: Ion Silverbolt
I'm using the 21.81 WHQL nVidia drivers. Those features probably only show up when it detects whatever it's looking for.
Posted by: TueurDelite
i got an MSI GF2 Ti Pro-vt . do u think the drivers of nvidia would work with my card
Posted by: Ion Silverbolt
nVidia drivers are designed to work with any nVidia card. All manufacturers do is change the nVidia reference drivers around for their own features. They are all based on nVidia reference drivers.
Personally I think the nVidia reference drivers are better. I always had problems with other manufacturer's drivers.
Posted by: TueurDelite
ok now do u know where i could get the drivers ?
Posted by: Null Actor
www.nvidia.com
Click some stuff.
Posted by: Ion Silverbolt
Good timing on the Sig change Nova..hehe
Posted by: The-AoD
I FOUND IT!!! And holy god in hell, this card is a hella lot better than that one at Radio Puke.
I found mine under this,
Display Properties -> Settings -> Advanced -> Twin View -> Device Settings -> Color Correction
I set it to the highest, and hell, I love this stuff. Nova's picture comes out SO sweet, that desktop image that is.
Maybe that will help some people with this. It's sweet.
As for that E-Color program it doesn't come close to this.

Ohh, and I also read up at nVidia.com.
nVidia Digital Vibrance Control (DVC)
This explains Digital Vibrance and tells you what it does, and how it affects you and your monitor.
nVidia Press Release on Dentonator 3 Drivers
This explains when it was released and which model(s) it is available on. from what I've read, I'd have to believe that DVC is available on any GeForce 2 or GeForce 3 model.
Just finding the control may be difficult. But I'll tell you guys this, it's more than worth searching around for.
Damned Typo's
Posted by: Spider
nVIDIA's reference drivers are also updated much more often than manufacturer's drivers.
Posted by: Bobaroo
I have been updating my TNT Vanta through the manufacturer's drivers, and today i decided to get the drivers from Nvidia.com. Those drivers must be much better, i now can get better resolution for my desktop. The manufacturer's drivers, miss out on a bunch of stuff too. I am going to see if I have the Digital Vibrance.

i think that is true
Posted by: The-AoD
Well, from what I've read, the Geforce 2 MX400 is based from the GeForce 2 GTS, with a bit of a cheaper "design" in all respect. I forget where I read that, I believe it was www.hardocp.com from which Ion showed me some benchmarks on the MX400 before I bought it.
By the way Ion, Thanks again for helping me with the Video card, and the system
Posted by: TueurDelite
I got it too... but cannot use it i think its because of my monitor my monitor is 15 years old old... i live in canada how much a good 17" monitor could be ?
btw the brand of my monitor is TTX
Posted by: The-AoD
Well, a really nice monitor usually costs around 300 - 500 american dollars, but that's really nice like I said.
You could probably get a half decent 17" that will do 1280x1024 for around say, 150 american dollars? I'm not good at changing that to canadian though..

I have two Daytona GeForce2 MX400 cards on my two computers one has duel monitors and TV out, the other doesn't. One is running ME the other 98SE. In both cases I was able to adjust the color vibrance by ...
Display Properties -> Settings -> Advanced -> Twin View -> Device Settings and selecting 'Color Correction' from the pull down menu
Posted by: nash industries
wow i'm new to this thanks for the advice.... i didn't even know that i could do that.
i'm still having problems though i cant get the video connector for the tv viewer working... can u help?
Posted by: tkron
I never did hook up the video card to the TV since the TV is in the frontroom and the computer is in the bedroom and they are abotu 30 feet apart.
you need a special cable that plugs into the back of your computer (round connector S-Video plug) the other end should have either an S-Video plug or three plugs Video sound right and sound left. you must also switch your TV to look for the signal to come in on Video 1 or 2 (if you have two video inputs)
Posted by: Chako
Well I am impressed, and I found my best setting was set to low. DV sure enhances the colours. Makes a regular CRT look like a trinitron in hue and vibrancy.
Posted by: c0re
I have a TNT model 64, and that option is not there, But i will give you another tip many of you already know about and you will have to have Xteq Systems X-setup; a free tweaking program.
Open up Xteq, then click on the hardware folder, Then click video cards folder, then Nvidia Folder, and finally General.. Ok now click On "Nvidia General Options" Then put a check in the "enable Hardware options tab"(May have to restart)
After your all done with that go into the Nvidia drivers properties, Incase you dont know how to get there right click on desktop; Properties;settings;advanced; Now click on your Card Model tab;Additional properties;Clock frequencies. Put a check in the "allow clock frequency adjustments"(may have to restart)
You can now overclock your Nvidia chipset! Im not sure if it works with all Nvidia cards, Although it works for mine, TNT2 M64. Have fun!
P.S. I hold no reponsibility for your actions!
Posted by: Swilo
The S-Video connector is just video, no audio. It will either be double ended with s-vdeos or one end s-video and te other a normal RCA(round) yellow connector. The audio would still need to be input to the TV through the sound card.

viva my MX card!!

I have a Geforce3 Ti 500, and it works for me. WOW, nice colors! Thanks for the tip!

i think i know why i dont got it .. because my monitor right now is pnp .. i didnt install it ( its been a while that i dont got the cd anymore) so ya maybe ill buy a new monitor
Posted by: Chako
Um...Digital vibrancy is not in your monitor properties. Its in your video card properties. Hence, it will work on a very old monitor because it really has nothing to do with it as per say. It works fine on PnP monitors as well.
Mine is located in "display properties>settings>advanced>colour correction
I am using the detonator XP drivers.
So, chances are that upgrading your monitor will have no effect on suddenly getting DV. From what I read, it all depends on what video card you have and what drivers you use.
Posted by: SKYHN
I wish my card had this. I guess ill have to wait til I get a GF3.
Posted by: TueurDelite
ok but ill buy a new one anyway mine is too small for me now thx anyway
