Win 98 on the MSCONFIG want to disable some of the itms in it but not sure what some of the programs are? Is there any way to determine what they go to. I have the Direct CD program that runs in the background and MacAfee vires scan the problem is my system is runing at 82%. I know I can turn all off except for systray and explorer but woul like to disable some of the other things permanently to free up the system.

Thanks

Go here http://ww2.whidbey.net/djdenham/Uncheck.htm
it will explain what each prog is.

Just thought I'd mention you shouldn't be striving for 100% free space or close to that - 82% isn't bad, but it probably could be increased so you'd have a higher number after a reboot. Sometimes I look at the file name in MSConfig and run a search on my hard drive for it to see more about it (i.e. what folder it is in so I know what it belongs to). Good luck!

Well just goto Start - Run - MSConfig.exe

But the max I can boot at with Win98se, with only systray and explorer is 97% and that was on my P3 rig with 512mb Ram. So.. That's a goal to look towards.
