I just want to say good by to all of you. I do this with a heavy heart. After my conduct in the forum the yesterday I felt ashamed. You have to understand that I take this seriously I live to help others with tech support and anything else I can. Laggy you have a great crew here and the last thing I would want to do is give OTS a bad name. I appreciate you giving me the chance to become a part of your staff, a duty I never took lightly! I have nothing but great respect for you and the staff as well as fellow members here at OTS. I will miss you all! Take Care

Hmmm...good thing your not living close at hand...might knock some sense into you.

Tweaker, who cares if you had a little spat. I have had many little spats in here, and usually feel the better for it because it builds character.

This is a community and as such, we get lots of people in here that are very different in how they look, how they think, how they behave. In retrospect, the net is a multinational multidiverse community. When looked at as such, its a wonder there aren't more fights.

For instance, I am a Canadian as are several other forum members, many are American, some are British, others come from Europe. We might even have some from the Middle East and Africa. I am certain we have some Asians in here also. My point is that it is all too easy to get into a fight because of pride, nationalism, and culture. It does happen, myself not excluded.

You may ask how this is related to your situation. Trust me in saying that whatever happened, and yes I did read the thread, is relatively unimportant in light of the grander scheme of things. Miscommunication is a daily occurrence in here simply because of the medium of expression. I cannot tell you personally how many times I have misconstrued other postings in here. I have even over reacted on occasions due to a perceived slight, and sometimes to an actual insult. This is all too easy to do because we get key input from facial expressions and tones of voice, even the posture of the other person plays a factor. All things we don't have the luxury of having in here. Yes, we have those stupid little smilies or "emoticons", but they pale to the real thing.

So, with all that behind us, I hope you don't feel that a short outburst or miscommunication is deemed a sufficient quantity to have you leave us. It happens a lot in here. Why, if I was to leave every time I get embarrassed in here, I would run for the hills and never be seen again. I can remember a time when I posted repeatedly in a thread and did stupid things like not read the other posters replies. Such laps in reading can lead to hilarious results...end result, I ate crow in that posting. Embarrassing to be sure but that is life.

So, I hope you reconsider your actions. I myself have over reacted once to often in these forums. The most notable was just after the 911 disaster when everyone was walking on egg shells. So you are not alone in doing such. You may feel embarrassed, or uncomfortable, and possibly feel that the honorable thing is to distance yourself from these forums. I don’t think that is a solution though. Running away never solves a problem, it just hides it for a later date.

Furthermore, I consider you knowledgeable in things software/hardware. More so then I. I feel that it would be a disservice for you to leave OTS because your insight does help some people out there who truly need the help.

I know that doing so is voluntary, and that nobody gets paid to do so here in OTS. But there is a small measure of pleasure in altruistic behaviors such as helping someone with their computer problems that compensates for any lack of pay. Reason why I have stuck around for so long. My meaning is that although you volunteer your time, and as such, don’t have any duty to this site, I feel that staying would give the most good, if and only if, you decide to stay. I cannot force, nor would wish to force anyone to stay against their own conscience.

I know this is long, and probably way to verbose. I just don't want you to leave on account of something inconsequential (from where I stand). This is my poor excuse of an attempt to have you reconsider your decision. The end result however, is in your hands.

Well said, Chako. Tweaker, I just finished reading the thread you were referring to, and I see nothing in it that would necessitate you leaving OTS. Like Chako said, arguments and misunderstandings happen.. and this one was nothing major.

Hope you stick around, man. Think about it one more time before you decide to take off.

By all means stay, I have found your posts very knowledgable and informative.

Even the well known t'kron MVP on the blizzard boards had his bad moments. One I remember most clearly was my responses to attacks on my expertise by lenora-flamebow.

Few people know this, but I used to post on the Blizzard tech forum using four names only one of which (t'kron) had the MVP show up on their posts.

Under one name I would lash out at cheaters and hackers and the like.

had another name i used when I decided I wanted to lower my "level" and post harse respones to vulgur posts.

I developed another name when I got heavily involved with the PvP versus anti PVP debates while D2 was being developed.

What do i mean by level...

Never argue with an idiot, they bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Hey tweaker, I did try and accept your apology in your PM, but your PM box was full so the site couldn't deliver it.

Stay already! Don't worry about what other people think. The best way to make up for something you think is a mistake is to jump back into things and do them better. Don't be an Ostrich with your head in the sand.

I always hate to see people think they should leave a community for any reason. Being a regular at many forums over the years, I have seen it a lot. It usually has no merit - and is just a last attempt at lashing out at a community that won't give the person what he wants (attention, in case you were wondering).

This is not the case here.

A matter of shame? Perhaps. I can see why you feel that why. There was an obvious misunderstanding on your part (although you weren't the only one) that got way out of hand. And to think it wasn't even conceptual. Half way through reading the entire thread, I kept thinking, why didn't they just read a bit carefully. One misread word was all it took. It was trivial.

I'm not going to lie to you. I've seen someone "leave a community" more time than I can remember. It never - ever - phased me. This is no exception. If I had the opportunity, I would rectify your shame - be an after-school special and tell you it's all OK - and return things to normal. But, that's up to you. I respect you for what you do and I feel it to be insulting to sugar coat anything (assuming you're even reading this) for you. I'm not going to tell you "I wish you would stay" or "it won't be the same without you" or "you were a great part of the team". You may have been all these things, but it doesn't really matter. It's not the issue here.

Don't misunderstand (anyone, if you please). This post probably sounds harsh, but it isn't. It's to the point (as I see it) and honest. No disrespect intended - but I think this is a load of crap - just like every other instance of this I have seen. As different as the circumstances are, they are still remarkably similar. It's up to you.

Oh, and by the way, it would be great to have you back. You are a great part of the team....

He registered a year after me and still beat me by 200+ posts, I think he should stay just because of that so he can beat Chako next year. hehe.

Hi everyone!

First I would like to say thanks for all the support. I meant what I said about how important this site is to me (and besides I worked much too hard to finally decide on a avatar!) But seriously, I guess it would be pretty silly to leave something you enjoy doing over a misunderstanding on my part. Thanks again I look forward to working with you guys in the future to make OTS a success.

Don't worry about taking time off from the site either. There's a lot on staff so it's not an issue. Look at Revenge. He's been on vacation here for 2 years and he's still a valued member of OTS..hehe

Good ol' Rev... Tech Support Emeritus... too busy with his kids, I bet.

Glad to hear you're staying Tweaker, although I'm hardly around enough to know what even happened. (but I guess that's all the better for me )
