Most of what I have been hearing is NO! So I thought I would post this poll here to see how you guys felt.

i put maybe because i might try it out if there was nothing free left. well, that is if it's cheapo
Posted by: Spider
Shit no!

If I was going to pay for music, I'd rather buy the CD so I have a "hard copy."
Posted by: SKYHN
It would have to be the highest quality and fast downloads.
Posted by: Spider
And when you have a disk failure and lose all the files you downloaded?
Posted by: RedTeMpeSt
Right now I wouldn't, but if it came to it and i had to then yeah.
I checked No/Maybe

no way..so far, the smashing pumpkins, foo fighters, and eminem are the only artists that have enough of my respect to get me to buy a CD.
Everybody is a one-hit wonder in one way or another.

There is no way I'd pay to download a crappy, misnamed, bad rip copy of a song. Not to mention paying to download off some luser for 3 hours just to have him cut you off.
If record companies want to put up good, high quality rips (256k bitrate or higher), on a fast, reliable site, then I might think about paying for it.
But as it is now, I end up buying cds of mp3s that I get, so why on earth would I pay twice??

I agree with Spider.
Although right now that doesnt seem as attractive as say a few months ago....Albums out now all have copy protection on them, therefore I cant even PLAY them on my computer, let alone rip them so I can use my CDrom for something else.

Maybe
if it is a cheap monthly charge....$5 a month sounds nice for unlimted downloads
Posted by: Tecil
Considering that 96% of my 23Gigs of Mp3s are legit, I would have to say NO .
Posted by: Null Actor
The RIAA would like to make them all illegal.
Posted by: Tecil
Yeah that's true. Every CD I own is on my PC. But they wouldn't consider that. It's all fair game in this day and age.
Posted by: Null Actor
They also want to make it illegal for anyone other than the purchaser to listen to the music.
Lending your cd to someone is illegal, as is playing it in any place where others can hear it.
I wonder how long until they attempt to patent sound waves.

Why? If it is $5 a month for unlimated downloads that is awesome

I agree with bobaroo330 that would be really good for $5 for as many songs you can download. So it depends on how much it would be

Wat about dling full video games ? .. hehe .. ever done that =)
Posted by: Bishop
Yes, actually.
idsoftware.com sells their old games in downloadable format, and by the gods it sucks.
Posted by: Gunslinger
I also would not, for the same reasoning that Spider provided. If I'm going to pay, even if just a little, or even if just per song, I'd rather front the cash to get a hard copy on a CD. I can still rip tracks for ease of use on the computer anyway.

the wisdom of gunslinger prevails!

Nope, aimster still works. Napster knock offs rule
