Monitor mess ups

Computer gosu's learn nothing new.

I'm kinda answering my own question that i was going to post but i found a solution that i figured out a few days ago but if you have a sound system (subwoofer, blask speakers, etc.) by your computer (1 ft or less) they emit waves that over time flicker your monitor screen and you end up having to replace it (which is a total mess, i'm not going to get into)

If you already knew this then fantastic but if you didn't (like me) move anything sound vibrate related away from your computer as far as you can without putting stress on your cords.

Actually, it's not the vibrations. It's the magnetic field caused by the speakers. Though I suppose if you caused enough vibrations, that might be an issue too. But I've never had loud music damage any computer hardware before.

I meant Magnetic fields but those words escaped me at the moment.

If your speakers did that to the monitor I'd say they weren't shielded. Probably home theatre speakers not intended for comp use, or just crappy comp speakers.

No, actually they were one of the best speakers you can buy from dell designed for computers. As far as Quality and sound just the Magnetic fields from the sub emitted to my monitor caused the sides to flicker up and down.

ehehe I have my 3" sub right beside my monitor, just running the center channel, but it's shielded so I'm safe

DELL SPEAKERS?? Phhft.... Buy a GOOD namebrand of computer speakers. Dell is midway, between crap and superb.

As for how far the shielding goes, those dell spaekers most likely had a steel cup around the speaker magnet, wich is infact the cheapest, and most inaffective way to shield a speaker.

Dell speakers? Hmmm ... I know that Dell doesn't manufacture its own speakers, so my guess is it's an Altec Lansing brand ... they're decent but not nearly as good as Klipsch, Boston Acoustics or other name-brands...

Even magnetically shielded speakers still have a magnetic field. It's effective radius is just greatly reduced. My Klipsch's distrort my monitor if I have them next to it, but 1 foot away doesn't affect them at all.
