Audigy Audio Cleanup = Useless.

So if you are planning on buying an audigy, you might consider that one of it's "features" is totally useless.
The Audio Cleanup, which is supposed to remove pops and clicks from your favorite wave or mp3 files, has no real audible effect when used.
Unlike their audio cleanup sample, which has the audio clean up magically removing most pops and clicks from their sample, under real use, it fails to remove most pops or clicks.
My test was run on an mp3 that was obviously made from vinyl, which had a few scratches. The pops and clicks are quite noticeable, and quite annoying. So I figured that hey, this would be a great use for this hyped feature of my 300$ sound card!
So I try it AND... no difference.
I thought maybe at first I was using it wrong. So I checked everything, and no, I was using it properly. It even has a checkbox that will allow you to hear the pops and clicks that it's removing. So I clicked it... and could tell immediately that Audio Cleanup was a scam. I could hear a few light clicks occasionally, indicating to me that it was working, but overall, it was missing most of them.
So, just to warn you, this feature is useless, despite how awesome it could be.

Update: It does noticeably deaden your sound output though, and make it sound like you are listening through a blanket. It seems to destroy most of the crispness of the music.
So this audio clean up feature actually makes the music sound worse.

I'd have to say that the feature couldn't really tell the difference between most "pops" in a certain sound, as it could be part of the music and such. It'd be a waste of time in some of your newer techno type songs.

Yeah for sure. I wouldn't try using it on squarepusher or aphex twin, that would just suck.
However, on other music, it should theoretically work.

$300 for a audigy? The highest they are here is $200-230 ... depending which platinum package you get.
there are alot of useless features that are worthless with the audigy...
I dont like how Creative tries to make you use the quick launch bar for everything.. I want the old Live interface back.

Canadian Funny Munny.
And you don't have to use the quick launch bar for anything. I haven't used it. Didn't even install it.

I don't even see the audio cleanup options. It must be in creative playcenter or something. Creative playcenter sucks ass. It's the only program that ever crashes on me in Windows 2000. I won't install it again no matter how well audio cleanup works.
