Who watches this program on KTLA 5? Even though it's being geared at teenagers, I really like it ... maybe because it's about Superman when he's not yet in tights, hehe...
I always thought the scenes in Smallville in the Superman movie were the best parts of the movie (well, next to the Lois Lane rescue on the helicopter)...
I found the last lines in the recent Smallville episode eerie:
Clark: Hey Lex, you think we'll always stay friends in the future?
Lex: I assure you Clark, our friendship will be the stuff of legends...
Posted by: Spider
I watch it sporadically, decent show, turned out better than enterprise, haha
Posted by: Canis Lupus
I like Smallville a lot coz of the gradual discovery of Clark Kent's powers ... in the last show, he just found out bullets couldn't hurt him ... wonder when he will find out he could fly ... or get heat vision
And the best thing about it is the little plot quirk that Lex Luthor is his best friend ... lotsa great foreshadowing ... makes every scene between them interesting...
Enterprise ... hmmm ... I still watch it coz there's nothing else good to watch on TV (unless you're into Dawson's Creek, hehe) ... but it gets pretty boring, sometimes...
Posted by: The_Druidess
It seems to explain a few things the movies didn't. I like it when i watch it
Posted by: SKYHN
I checked the show out a little while ago when Kelly Brook made an appearance. I may just have to start watching it when she joins the cast next year
Posted by: Gerbilo
I didn't know that's what the show was about.... I think here it's on WGN though... the Chicago station... I don't know what areas of the country have it but a lot do...
Posted by: Canis Lupus
duh Gerb ... "smallville" - it's almost as much a comic landmark as metropolis or gotham city ... you were not reading a lot of Superman comics as a kid it seems
Posted by: Spider
lol.
I liked the episode where it cuts to the morning and he wakes up on the ceiling and freaks out, that was quality.
Posted by: Jeddak
It's pretty good but I already quit watching it. Enterprise is very good.
Posted by: Gerbilo
no laggy, I never really got into comics... had a few but didn't really know what was going on..... I was all into TMNT when I was a baby gerbil
Posted by: uh...ok
Wuhoo! Another Smallville fan!
Too bad I haven't seen any of Season 2 yet... stupid school.
But I have the entire Season 1 on SVCD and VCD.

Smallville!!??
SPOILERS BELOW!!!
Basically what has happened so far is Lana Lang gets saved from the tornado by Clark. She doesn't know he's superman but suspects something. The guy who taped Clark using his powers gets shot by Lex.
In an episode afterwards, the black kid finds out about Clark's powers. Also, the blonde girl gets sad because she finds out that Clark only wants to be friends w/ her.
Also, you find out that the red meteorites warp Superman's mentality in a similar fashion that the green one's (kryptonite) make Superman weak physically.
Did the show make up the Red Meteorites, or were they in the comics also?
Posted by: Freak
Edit it with big red spoiler sign.
I've only seen the first 3 EPISODES of season 1....I'm so wearing my "WELCOME TO LAST YEAR N00B" tshirt...
Posted by: AngstMerchant
Here's all you need to know about Smallville:
Lana is hot.
Lex is bald.
Bo Duke promises not to play the guitar anymore.
Posted by: uh...ok
Ugh Nfested, please edit that, don't spoil it for me. Good thing I didn't catch too much of it besides half of the first line (which I knew was gonna happen anyway).
-uh...ok
Posted by: Canis Lupus
changed Nfested's message ...
Anyway, yeah, I like Smallville a lot ... I particularly loved how they wrote the script for Smallville, especially in the First Season ... there was a ton of foreshadowing going on that I can't help but laugh out loud everytime I hear some references to it.
Some of them include (aside from the quote in my sig), Lex Luthor reading a book that says "How to be a Superman in today's business world" ... and of course, Lana Lang referring to Clark as the "Man of Steel" coz of his insensitivity
Posted by: The_Druidess
hmmmm I just couldnt get into that series. It lacks something *shrug*

Nope, they were in the cartoons too. There was also blue and, I think, yellow.

:EDIT: Here is where some info can be found.
Posted by: Tecil
Haven't watched it, but I'm sure it is better than that Lois and Clark crap that used to be on.
Posted by: Canis Lupus
Merged this thread with another one I created several months ago
Anyway, Lois and Clark does not hold a candle to Smallville ... most of Superman's Smallville years were a mystery, even in the comics. This is why the show's writers have a LOT of leeway in writing the script, coz they can mold Superman's rite of passage in whatever way they see fit, as opposed to strictly following the superhero myth to the letter for fear of rabid fans

my friend tom likes that show
Posted by: Fink
that show rules! hehe. i watch it everytime it's on, and if i cant i have my dad tape it for me hehehe.... but i want to see the one tonight... not sure what its bout but i think it will be good either way.
Posted by: Canis Lupus
Just a bump to remind the dyslexics that tonight is Smallville night ... and to those people in the East Coast who have already watched it, bite yer tongues!
Posted by: PMS GURL
the only good thing bout the show is the guys in it ( SORRY MUGGS for saying that, dont be mad lol)
Posted by: Spider
Watchin' it right now homey
Posted by: Spider
Today's episode was kind of weak. Next week's preview looked hardcore though. Some grassy-gnoll lookin' shit from when Clark and Lex were both infants.

here in michigan, its on the WB

grassy-gholl lookin' shit?
Does not compute.

yeah a gnoll is a half-hyena, half-humanoid creature in AD&D ...
or Felicity's RA in the first season ....
Posted by: justinious
d00d, no Felicity in the Smallville thread. You'll poison us all!
Posted by: Fink
i missed last nights episode... was tired from football practice.... i hope my dad taped it and if not ill have to see it on sunday
Posted by: Spider
*shrug* my bad.
I don't know about AD&D, but they're in EQ.
Posted by: uh...ok
Yea... look at Lex Luthor in Smallville... he envies Clark big time because he has two very loving parents. (and of course coz Lana Lang has the hots for Clark , I mean, who wouldn't be jealous of that guy?)
Of course it's fiction, but it's a good reflection of real people as well.
-uh...ok
Posted by: Spider
Lana don't like Clark anymore
Besides, Chloe is a better match for him, they both like newspapers. If Clark and Lana ever did get together it wouldn't last, he marries that chick from metropolis, I forget her name.
Edit: Lois Lane
has anyone else noticed the LL theme of characters in superman? Lionel/Lex Luthor, Lana Lang, Lois Lane?
Posted by: TotalRecall
The self-fulfilling prophecy thing really annoys me. They should change up the story...
Posted by: Canis Lupus
Hehe, if the writers try and change the story that radically different from the superman myth, they'll be lynch-mobbed by Superman comic fans
Anyway, it's not like it isn't being done in the Star Wars prequels
Posted by: uh...ok
That's it I'm never reading this thread again.
I have not watched Season 2 yet, don't freaking tell me!

Spoilers below (That means you, Lito, I know it's not on there for another hour or two)
Wicked episode tonight. Lana finds her real father (possible father)
We find out that Clark's dad is the reason the Luthor's own so much land in Smallville. Also we get to see some wicked shit from the day of the meteor shower. Rock on. Good show. Next week's looks kind of lame though. The spot showed Clark trying to save some sickly boy that looks like he could be his brother (but hhhhhhhhhhhobviously isn't) they don't even hint at who it is though. Hate that shit.
Posted by: Canis Lupus
Yeah, great episode tonight
I seem to remember the boy ... wasn't he the boy who Clark befriended in Season 1 - the one who can read minds?
Posted by: Spider
I don't remember that episode, I only watched the first season intermittently, catching the ones that pertained to him being an alien, him having a spaceship, but skipping over some disposable cheese episodes. Probably only caught half, perhaps two-thirds of the first season. Unlike this season where I sit down every tuesday and watch it.
Posted by: justinious
I missed the 1st 15 minutes dammit. No cool meteor shit until Sun. Thank God for those Sunday repeats.
Posted by: Spider
Yeah, I watch it on Sundays when I miss it on Tuesdays too. Very cool to have it on twice a week like that.
Posted by: Fink
i liked last nights, but that lady was on crack
Posted by: Canis Lupus
countdown bump
Posted by: Spider
Tonight's episode was good I guess, not much action or anything pretty tame actually, some nice fore-shadowing of the Superman future though. I thought it funny how they did it too, through another comic book that Lex collects. I still don't get who that kid is still, was he a telepath last year when Clark met him? I didn't catch that episode.
Also some distance running, nice.
Posted by: Canis Lupus
possible spoilers
Tonight was not so action-packed, but it's a GREAT script. Lex gets the best lines in this show, I swear...
That foreshadowing/analogy when he discussed the comic book hero and villain with the dying kid was great, especially when he noted that the comic book's villain wanted to join forces with the hero, but the hero chose to keep his principle for truth and justice, which led the villain to despise the hero and everything he stood for. Sound familiar?
Yeah, it was the same psychic kid from Season 1, and he could already read minds when Clark met him ... at the end of that Season 1 episode, the boy asked Clark if he would like to know what Lana thought about him, to which Clark, the killjoy that he is, said no
The next episode looks a bit cheesy tho ... but we'll see
Posted by: Spider
I missed the trailer for next weeks episode. What's it about?
Posted by: Canis Lupus
It's about a guy who can "split" himself into two identical people. This guy comes on to both Lana and Chloe. So the guy is literally a "two timing" freak. It's a pun gone bad, hehee ... The guy is played by that kid from Home Improvement.. Jason Scott Thomas, or something...
Posted by: bLaCkOuT
Johnathan Taylor Thomas?
Posted by: Canis Lupus
Yeah, I think that's him, hehe...
Posted by: Spider
Oh. Yeah, it does sound pretty bad. At least it's not one of season 1's easy freak created by meteorites episodes. Those were getting old fast. I want superman damnit, how many years until he graduates? Two?
Posted by: Canis Lupus
You forget he's still in high school
Clark is still a teenager in Smallville, so he still has at least 2-3 years in high school, and maybe 4-5 years in college ... According to comics and the original movie, he was already in his late twenties or early thirties when he reached Metropolis ... unless they wanna change THAT aspect of the story, hehe...
The scriptwriters should pace themselves in revealing his abilities ... the "real" meat is yet to come (i.e. the revelation that he is from Krypton, his real "fortress of solitude", etc)...
All the juicy parts are in Smallville (the town) ... once the story moves to Metropolis, to paraphrase Richard Donner, "it stops being a quaint country tale and starts being a comic book..."
Posted by: Spider
Damnit, why does he have to go to college!!
He doesn't needa freakin' college education to crack skulls.
Posted by: Canis Lupus
Very nice episode tonight They killed two birds with one stone on that one...
Next episode looks interesting ... Lex finally going over to the dark side!??!
btw, love this line from that episode - reminded me of Superman III:
"I'm gonna kick yer ass, Kent!"

Not to mention the scene where "Chloe" was lusting after Lana (wearing nothing but a towel).
Seriously though, last night's episode was good, except the blatant propagan... um, patriotism made my teeth ache. I didn't mind the "soldier's return", but the U.S. flags in certain shots and Jonathan Kent's outrage just because Clark didn't want to go to the Welcome Back party were a little overdone. At least the patriotic shit was pretty much limited to the first half-hour.
As for Lex. . . I can't wait for him to start kicking ass and taking names.

wait, go back to the towel clad blonde lusting afetr lana if you would... please
see what you miss on tv kids?

OK, a shapechanging villain from a previous episode, Tina Greer who once was obsessed with stealing Lana's life, went off the deeper end and became convinced she and Lana were "meant to be together" *wink**wink*. Lana lives with Chloe. In one scene from the last episode we see Greer fondling Lana's lingerie when Lana unexpectedly walks in from the shower wearing a towel. Tina quickly shifts into Chloe's shape, and she then eyes Lana up and down, talks in a sultry voice, etc. freaking Lana out and creating brand-new fantasies for hormone-filled teenagers and creepy older men.

I missed the new episode.
Going to catch the "easyview" on Sunday.
I was going to get a beer from the garage which involves going through the living room, my mom was in there watching TV and reading a book, on my way back upstairs, I glance at the TV and see the WB emblem and 'ALL NEW' in the right corner and oh-my-god it's Smallville I was like OMGWTF and she was like ya, it's a new episode and I was all no way and she was like ya it's got like ten minutes left weak
so I watched the end sorta and saw his spaceship or something doing some cool shit and like purging some kryptonite. Looked hardcore I was pissed I missed it. But then I remembered they replay them on Sunday
Score!

Mark your calendars, Smallville viewers:
Christopher Reeve is gonna appear in Smallville on February 25, as a scientist who is researching Krypton
Posted by: Spider
No way!
Sweet!
Is he still in the chair? I remember reading about him walking again.
Tonight's episode was pretty cool, glad they didn't kill off Lionel prematurely though like I thought they were going to do at the start of the episode. I've missed the last couple weeks episodes. Damnit. But I caught tonights, it was cool. They had me fooled, I had no idea it was the cop. I thought it was the dude who was trying to pin it on Lex as soon as he accused him.
Posted by: Canis Lupus
What can I say, this episode was one of the best so far!
spoilers
Clark finally finds out he's Kal-El, and has learned to read Kryptonian!
The Krypton theme playing during the scene with Welling and Reeve was priceless... made me wanna take my Superman DVD from the shelf and watch it again ...
Now that Clark knows who he is, where he's from, and why he was sent to Earth, what's next? Smallville finally enters super hero mode...
Posted by: Nfested
Tonight's episode was pretty good although I watched only parts of it. Having Christopher Reeve make a special appearance was pretty cool.
Small Spoiler Alert
What was the reason Mrs. Kent hid the fact that she was pregnant? I kinda missed that last episode.
Posted by: Canis Lupus
[spoiler]
Mrs Kent hid the fact that she was pregnant because: (a) she wasn't really sure during the time, (b) she didn't want her family to know that the ship in the cellar may have had something to do with it (the ships "cures" humans - and non-humans like Clark), and (c) she didn't want it to affect her and Jonathan's relationship with their adopted son, Clark
Posted by: Spider
I missed the first half of the episode since I was out gettin' some grub, can't believe I forgot about it! But I caught the second half I was  that I missed the first half but I will catch it on Sunday (if I remember..) but the second half rocked the hizouse!
Anyone else think that scientist who had the information overload will become the Eradicator?

Word.
Spoiler (kinda)
Anyone else think the Kryptonian message "You will be like a god among men" message inside the ship was a cool twist? Who is the Eradicator?
Posted by: Canis Lupus
Here's an excellent background on Krypton:
http://www.geocities.com/TheTropics...es/krypton.html
And about the eradicator
http://www.geocities.com/TheTropics...eradicator.html
(I'm not so sure about the doctor being eradicator tho, unless they change the mythos)
I dunno how much of the mythos they'll change in the TV series tho ... the fact that Martha Kent is pregnant already changes it a bit
And yeah, the god among men part of Jor-El's message was great, especially Clark's reaction to it...
Can't wait for the next part
Posted by: Canis Lupus
Oh, and the "sleep-flying" bit at the beginning was pretty kewl...

Smallville executive producer Al Gough told TV Guide Online that Clark Kent will remain a virgin for the foreseeable future. "Yes, Clark is a virgin ... and will remain so," Gough told the site. "The show is about romance, not about sex, like Dawson's Creek, where they just hop into bed with each other."
Clark (Tom Welling) is in a love triangle with Lana Lang (Kristin Kreuk) and Chloe Sullivan (Allison Mack). But, Gough said, "once you cross that line [of sex], then you forever change the character and the series. It's not something we want to do at this stage of the game. It'll definitely be down the road."
-from Scifi.com's Sci Fi Wire
Aw, no hot threesomes
Posted by: Erekose
uh, he said clark would stay a virgin. nothing stopping lana and chloe from... no, no, nevermind. i'll not even say it, it'll just be too painful to know it will never happen
Posted by: Canis Lupus
Great episode tonight (at last) ... main story arc taking place ... makes you wonder how long they will be able to sustain the series, what with Clark's secret rapidly unfolding and taking shape... can't wait for next week's conclusion...

SPOILER: (highlight to read)
I am waiting to see if Lex stole Clark's blood for his own agenda, or just to piss his dad off.
This is pure conjecture, but can you see Lex believing that (far down the road) he's the one the doctor said was destined to rule the world? Thus beginning his ego-centric fall to villiany? (so I bought a dictionary, sue me)
Posted by: Canis Lupus
Anyone watched the season finale on this one? Things are turning grim...
SPOILER: (highlight to read) Now we know how Martha loses the baby, lol ...
Looks like the next season will be much darker... give or take a few "Kryptonite Freak of the Week" episodes...
For those who didn't catch it, rerun on Sunday

Season one on DVD this Tuesday...!
I've been waiting for them to start releasing the DVD's. Since I'm incapable of sitting down and watching the show every week. I ****ing hate TV shows. They require more commitment than most girlfriends.

what day of the week is it on now? i thought i saw a commercial that said it moved to wednesday at 8, but tv guide.com doesnt have it listed there. and the search at the site came up blank. i hope im right about the time slot, and it doesnt run against west wing.

Theory: Remember the "red sun" chamber in the Superman 2 movie? Something similar to that.
Reality: The writers went "Oh shit, we have an hour to finish this script!"

It was somewhat funny. The ending did make me chuckle, I must admit.

Yeah, although Jor-El did ask him if he was willing to give up anything to save his son ... which makes me wonder what the price Jonathan Kent has to pay...
Posted by: Ocean
well pa seems normal when superman is grown up. so my guess is something that can be fixed. im still wondering how close he is to learning he can fly. they come so close every season premier.

He trades in his lean physique for the pot belly he has in the comic books.

Then again, you don't know how much of the comics Smallville is being faithful to ... remember that Jonathan Kent died in the first Superman movie
