Whats next? A surgeon general's warning?

Four lawmakers in Georgia submitted a bill yesterday that would make it a criminal offense to sell or furnish violent interactive video games to minors. The bill, known as the Violent Video Game Protection Act, would make it a misdemeanor offense to sell games that contain depictions of graphic violence as determined by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) to anyone under 18

This is getting out of hand. Right now, it's a retailers choice as to whether or not they want to enforce the ESRB ratings. Chains like Toys R Us and Wallmart card kids attempting to buy 'M' rated video games. Thats fine- if a company doesnt want to sell adult orientated games to young kids- so be it. Getting the government involved is just a waste of everyone's time and energy.

Well .... isn't Georgia where they found those 130+ bodies at the crematorium today? Maybe Georgia officials need to start watching ..... adult people in business .... a little more and quit watching the kids!

I have heard about that on the news today.

I cannot imagine doing that. It is beyond belief.

Why do they have any right to do this? People should revolt against Georgia's government, but it's not going to happen. They don't care, as the post above illustrates. Hah...every freedom ripped from your clutches...it's coming.

course people dont care. around half the US voted for algore and lieberman in the last election without knowing or caring about a thing they stood for. and its lieberman heading the push to ban our favorite past time, and was algore and him leading the charge before the election... people dont care till its their own pet vice that gets the axe from the "we know better than u do crowd" just about all the vid gamers sat back and laughed at the folk that liked firearms as their rights got trampled now the shoe is on the other foot. none of this govt totalitarianism movement is going to stop till everyone bands together to stop em regardless whether u agree or disagree with a pet like of one group. if the porn guys the vid game folk the movie lovers the car nuts the gun folk all got together along with all the rest and put a stop to all this crap then we wouldnt be in the state we are now with each group being picked apart by the better-than-thou-nazis.

If they want to do this for violent video games, they'll have to do it for movies as well.

Very few games actually exceed a pg-13 level of violence; movies are far more violent.

thing is they are making it an issue to exert power for power's sake and have something to run their campaigns on. they dont care they just want to look important and if it means sacrificing things like liberty it doesnt matter to all to politicians.

Yeah, thats one thing that gets me. A kid can walk into wall-mart and buy just about any 'R' rated DVD, but if they try to buy a copy of Mortal Kombat or Doom they get asked for an ID.

Screwy.

damn that Joe Lieberman
