It would be very hard, in this case , to be an objective juror! Innocent until proven guilty? Yeah right!

If he is guilty, I hope he burns in HELL!!! Eternally!!!

I don't believe in Hell (or Heaven either) but if he did do this..... he deserves to die.
I'll never understand someone taking a childs life

I agree totally!
but it was this part of the whole story above that prompted me to make the original post!
"CAMPER RAISED SUSPICIONS
Danielle was last seen Feb. 1 when her father put her to bed. She was reported missing the next morning.
The Los Angeles Times reported Monday that a source familiar with the investigation said Westerfield attracted police attention because of the excessive cleaning he gave his recreational vehicle, which he told police he drove into the desert for two days camping after Danielle disappeared.
The paper reported that Westerfield steam-cleaned the RV, using so much bleach that detectives found the chlorine fumes overpowering when they searched it two days after the girl was reported missing. In addition, Westerfield took the cushions to be dry-cleaned, the report said.

That idiot. If your going to kill somone, you kill them with poison or by strangulation. Its much easier to cover up, since theres no blood.
Just to clear things up, he should be placed in a vat of boiling acid.

Oh? And what about bruising of the neck and esophagus? Or the traces of poison in their immune/digestive system? That stuff doesn't go away when someone's dead you know.

unfortunately, we dont have a trial by jury any longer in this country. its now trial by media. if the crime is big enough to hit the headlines, better hope you dont get charged, or youre almost certain to be convicted. unless youre a football player, of course.

Amen to that sister!

hopefully when he gets in prison...all the big guys know what he is in there for....

Why would someone kill a little child anyway? I've always wondered why in the world someone would do that. It just doesn't make any sense. Some people at least kill people for a reason (which is still a very stupid solution to a problem) but why would you kill a little kid that you have nothing against. This guy must be some sicko that obviously doesn't have a lot of friends.

I agree are they should give him the chair

he hasnt even been tried yet. jesus christ.

Lots of people these days deserve worse than they get. Judges seem to have a real hard time giving people the electric chair.

Yeah, but there wont be blood all over the guys RV. That was Darky's point. No matter how you kill someone, they will know how it was done. But, depending on how you kill them, they might not be able to tell that you did it. You slice her up in your camper, you are in some trouble. Give her some poison and burry her in the desert- thats gonna be harder to trace to you.

Yes, but considering so many trials are so full of bullshit and so corrupted, we are probably better at judging this guy than the courts. The justice system in this country is defintely flawed (and this is coming from a future cop )
Posted by: Xtren
You know what else is really gay? The judge will give you a sentence of something like 6 years in prison, but you'll end up getting out after 2 years on parole. So in other words the judge will give you a large penalty given that you are getting out after a shorter span of time.

i said it was fortunate they were dead, not that they should be killed. if ole whathisface had a heart attack and died, that would also be fortunate.

HEY All
I agree with Xtren on that ,my sister had a husband sentenced to 6 years and he just got out but in only 3 years,(good behavier they said) BullCrap!!! he is a monster, his son shot his own nephew (IN THE HEAD)and the guy didn't even care,he was arressted for something on having loaded weapons out,but N E ways he should stay there till 6 years, Court systems are screwed up Majorly, WELL CYA ALL just had to voice my opinions, BTW I'm new and love you all!!!!the forum also,,, YOUR My new found friends LOL!!
Posted by: redwench
well, thats the parole system. if you want truth in sentencing, the sentences would be lowered and there would be no parole. it would pretty much work out the same.
the parole system is designed to encourage convicts to be law abiding. doesnt always work, but is probably better than just turning them loose after thier sentence.
Posted by: Storm18
Yeah your right RW but some just act good or have good behavier so they can get out early to do the same thing again or to get revenge or whatever ,now granted there are good ones but there are bad ones too, well any ways ,in reply to all that they're talking about a dad killing his own daughter ,if I understood correctly,is just plain sick,I mean how can someone do such a horrific thing ,and especially to your own child, I Agree with alot of you,if e's guilty he should burn, and i believe in heaven and hell,I'm betting HELL has his name on it
-K- I',m done ranting and raving,

Most criminals are good actors. They have to spend time in jail and they can act like goody-goods while others are around so it will leave a good impression and get them out of jail. Most of those criminals still don't change though.

Yes. The highest rate of repeat offender is the child molester. The only cure seems to be a rope.
Posted by: Xtren
Judges have to be a lot more strict with their sentences these days. Some people (or kids anyway) will tell me they want to go to jail when they grow up just to see what it's like..... that's scary
Posted by: redwench
now, the recidivisism rate on most crimes is nowhere near 100%. usually its under 50 %, with exceptions for drug abuse/possession and child molestation. and theres nothing wrong with "acting". you and i act all the time. were polite to people we cant stand. we pretend that waiting in line behind some 80 year old git doesnt bother us. various other things. what counts is the behavior, not the motivation. if someone behaves well in order to get out of prison, dont you think theres a good chance theyll want to stay out, and therefore continue the good behavior?

interesting point red. the whole prison system is pretty messed up in my opinion. now truthfully i do not know much of how/why it is run the way it is, but it seems to me that if somone commits a violent crime, is 'punished' and then commits a similar, or as often is the case, more serious crime means that something isnt getting through. Sure living in a 10x10 cell isnt any picnic, but from what i know of prison life (from a guard at the adult correctional facility nearby my home) they live better than i have at times and i havent o much as a parking ticket. punishment should fit the crime. murder - death sentence or life inprisonment (obviously there are exceptions and such) as an example. but violent crimes in any sense should not be tolerated and the offenders should never be given the chance to commit crimes such as they did before. as for parole, sure maybe some criminals can be reformed, but what about the petty thief who spends 7-10 yrs with hardend murderers? avoiding rape and violence day in and day out will certainly mess you up
Posted by: Xtren
Well here's an example:
An sixteen year-old beats up another kid and the victim is paralysed for life. The kid that commited the crime gets left off with a year injail and another year or so of social services. A twenty-five year-old commits the same crime but is sentenced to ten years in prison cause he's an adult.
I figure the sixteen year-old had just as good an idea of what he was doing as the twenty-five year-old but the judges would assume cause he's younger he doesn't deserve as big of a punishment.
Posted by: redwench
not just younger. under 18 is generally in the juvenile system, which is quite different from the adult criminal system. the judge couldnt possibly sentence him to 10 years in prison, that not the way the juvenile system works. now, he could be transferred to the adult system and tried as an adult, but that is a different matter.
Posted by: Xtren
The whole point is that the juvenile system doesn't work. That should be changed.
Posted by: redwench
it works quite well, for the most part. nothing works all the time. and ive seen enough teenagers to know that the stupid and criminal stuff they do, for the most part, will not be done 10 years later. violent crime we can agree should be addressed differently. but most 15 year olds do stuff that is criminal. the girls shoplift, drink, smoke, with the occasional weird item. the boys vandalize, drink, smoke, drive recklessly. but 90% of them outgrow it without needing to be locked up like an adult would. and most people recognize that.
Posted by: Freak
Most teenagers are ****ing retarded.
3 friends got suspended for 2 weeks after spring break because they snuck out from the dorms (this is a high school, they do care what you do)
and went downtown and got busted for drunk driving. Some private school kids are idiots...they must have a deathwish or something.
Posted by: Xtren
I guess I have to agree that a lot of teenagers do stupid things but they still know what they're doing just like any other adult so they deserve punishment.
Posted by: redwench
yes, they do. but theres a difference between a 15 year old shoplifting something and a 45 year old doing it. they both may lack impulse control and show bad judgement, but one will probably grow out of it.
Posted by: Xtren
Yes but people shouldn't do it anyway and since they both have done it, it doesn't matter whether or not they are going to do it again, they deserve equal punishment.
Posted by: redwench
you dont punish a child the same as a mature adult. even i know that, and i hate kids.
Posted by: Xtren
Yes but a fifteen or sixteen year-old teenager isn't quite what I consider being a child. There's deffinitely a big difference between a child of five and one of fifteen.
Posted by: Null Actor
I dunno, I think all punishments should be doled out on a 'you should know better' scale.
That would mean age, and experience could and would increase sentence.
For instance, someone who commits a crime and goes to jail for say, 5 years, gets out, commits it again. Should he get another 5 years?
I think he should get significantly more, since he should have known better the second time around.
Posted by: Xtren
I agree with the fact that he should get significantly more the second time. If someone commits a crime for the first time than maybe they just got unlucky and were in the wrong place at the right time, or they might just have been acting stupid which means they'll be careful not to commit the same crime next time. If someone commits the same crime twice then they probably aren't going to change.
