I have recently changed ISP to AOL. I do not use the AOL browser just the connection. I have had a Yahoo email account for many years that I have no intention of changing. My problem is that I cannot access my Yahoo email using MS Outlook 2000 while connected to AOL. It has not been a problem until the change to AOL. Am I correct in assuming that AOL blocks this access so that you have use their email? I am still in the free trail period w/ AOL and can change. Does anyone have any suggestions?

you have to disable aol as your default browser ...and IE your default..this should be in the preferences menu on the aol screen...

I did reset IE to the default browser and also reset Outlook as default email but Outlook says that "the server is not responding". Any other thoughts?

Okay, when you set up Outlook 2000, did it automatically dial-up your ISP when you check your email?
Since you already need to start AOL first, the connection already exists by the time you start Outlook 2000.
Try this:
In Outlook, go to TOOLS, choose ACCOUNTS, choose the email account you need and then click on the PROPERTIES button... click on the CONNECTION tab and choose "Connect using my local area network (LAN)"
There is also a checkmark at the bottom of that choice. If you want, you can check it, and then specify in the dropdown list below "Modem" and specify AOL.
Then click OK to all and see if that works. Post back on your progress...
