XP Pro along side XP Pro

Evening all...
I am thinking about running XP Pro on two partitions!
I am currently running Win 98 se along side XP Pro and every thing is fine. I had Win 98 se installed already and installed XP pro after. When you install XP it gives you the option to install on top of 98 or individually on a second partition. I wanted a dual boot machine so opted for the second option "install to seperate partition.
XP Pro comes witha nice little boot manager that installs with no hassle and hasn't given me any trouble.
I am now thinking about installing XP Pro on two partitions. Does anyone now if this is possibly, without installing a 3rd party boot manager. Can I format my 98se partition and install the second copy of XP? Will the microsoft boot manager that installed before work with two copies of XP??
Any help !!!!

I ma using my 98 partition for music apps, and I have recently updated software for Xp use I want to keep my general OS seperate from my music OS.

Should not be a problem.
I've had Win2K and WinXP Pro running side by side on the same partition just fine.
The boot manager is essentially the same for both OS's.

Even with that explanation, I don't see what practical use you expect to get out of that. What do you hope to gain, may I ask?

I would strip the music Os down completely no screen savers, no unneeded services, remove unwanted startup apps. I dont wante music drivers and sys files to jumbled along with internet stuff, games other shite I use. I wont even need internet access on that system.
Running programmes other than music stuff can really screw up sequencers and sampler software, also midi clock can be affected and other stuff.
I was only asking!!
