hi, can i replace a celeron 633 with a p3?
its a socket 370 i think.....
thanks

Celeron 633 MHz FCPGA Socket 370, 66MHz bus, 128K cache

That 66 Mhz FSB motherboard and your ATA-33 hard drive (most likely) can't be sped up. You will need new RAM for a faster FSB.

If that's what you got, don't waste your money on a P3 or any other upgrades for that computer. It sounds like you got the fastest equipment for that style motherboard.

Save up and get a new computer if the one you have is too slow. You need just about everything replaced to increase the speed at all. When you do, it'll be quite a bit faster.

hi
its not my pc , my sister in law only wants to upgrade this one..
it has 256mb pc133ram ,10gb seagate series 5 h/drive 8mb graphics card which she says is enough for her but she wants more processing power...
can a p3 fit on a board that takes a celeron cpu?
thanks

Its not wether or not it can fit.
Its wether or not its compatible.
Find out the manufacturer and model of the motherboard, and post back.

HI
If the board is a socket 370 then it is a good board yet!
It supports udma/66 for the hard drive and a 150 megahtz FSB. The celoron is probaly only running at 66 or 100 FSB By switching to the P3 you can bump that to 133FSB. You have to check with MB maker to see how big you can go but I think you should be able to put in a P3 EB with out any problem and end up with a pretty fast system.
