the fact that he had the courage to go after a criminal is what makes him a real man. not getting shot in and of itself.

Actually if they had stopped to think things through..then he would not have gotten shot, and quite possibly been more effective or not depending on the situation.
Ergo, by your definition, a real man is stupid!

hehe. but you forget, they werent civilians. if 8 soldiers cant deal with a single armed enemy, theyre in the wrong career.

Ah but there wasn't just a single armed guy. There were 4 armed guys, and 8 very stupid soldiers. Not just any soldiers mind you..but artillerymen. I don't believe artillerymen are trained to be martial artist, so you can't hold that against them. What you can hold against them though is their lack of thinking prowess.

I thought there were two armed 'suspects'.
The second one shooting the officer and causing them all the release the first suspect.
But that isn't what this is about; it's about your wanting a guy with a back injury.

Anyone who tries to disarm someone over money that isn't theirs is an utter fool. Would have been different if they were shooting people though but it's clear they just wanted money.

ion, i dont agree. i think a trained group of soldiers/police officers/whatever should be willing to jump in in certain circumstances. were not talking a group of bankers here. nor were the robbers in great number or armed with ak47s. the more people back down from criminals, the more bold the criminals become.
i wouldnt expect your average person to jump in to stop an armed robber. that would just be stupid. but whats the point of training soldiers and police officers if they wont get involved? (again, assuming its not suicide to do so)

Getting involved is one thing...however, it doesn't take much acumen to realize that if the other guys have weapons...and yes...a pistol will kill just as easily as an AK47, and you are unarmed..there isn’t much of a contest unless you can jump them from behind and have surprise on your side.
Clearly, these guys did manage to take one down, but he had accomplices that freed him.
So, just because they are soldier does not mean they should jump in at the first sign of a robbery and get shot for no gain at all.
That is the job for trained police officers. Soldiers are not trained as police officers in general...hence they should not have involved themselves unless the others started shooting at civilians.
