Hello everyone, I love this site, you all are so helpful. I need HELP again. I have a google gear flatbed scanner and all of a sudden when I try to scan with it all I get in color is green and black lines and if I try to scan in blk/wh I get black and white lines. It was just fine. Anyone had this problem? Could someone suggest a solution, please? Thanks so much, pepjed19

The brand of the scanner is "Google Gear" or that is where you bought it from?

Peggy, the first thing is to eliminate the hardware causes.
-Check your cables. Pull them out and re-seat them back in to both the scanner and the computer. I don't know if this is a USB scanner or parallel. Whichever, check your cables. See if there are any bent pins while your at it. Maybe someone took the cables out and forced it back in. I have seen this happen on lots of cables.
-Once that is over with try it out. If that didn't fix it, hunt down your scanner software on your computer and uninstall it and reinstall it using your scanner software CD. Maybe a driver got corrupted, or more then likely the TWAIN drivers.
-If that hasn't helped, I would then call a friend and bring the scanner over to them and try it out on their computer. Likewise, if you have a second computer in the house, do the same to that. If it fixes it, then you know the scanner is ok, and the problem rest with your computer. If it doesn't fix it, then your scanner has a hardware problem and or the original cable is defective.
-At this point, there isn't much you can do other then to change the cable and hope for the best. Scanners are cheap and would cost you more to repair them. If it proves to be a defective scanner, then you may have to replace it.
