I Cant Connect B.net

Ok ive been having a problem with B.net it seems to do it with Starcraft and Diablo2exp. I connect to the internet and i tried gettin on USEAST realm using Battle.net, it useually gets to like CHECKING VERSIONS or sometimes just gets stuck on QUERYING GATEWAY. Then after awhile my net connection just disconnects then when i try recconect it says "Dial tone not found" u see i use a 56k modem and i have just recently reinstalled WINDOWS ME i really need help with this so if someone could plz help.

What ISP are you using?

My ISP is Freeserve i use Freeserve ANYTIME package. Also my internet connection connecting to sites and using MSN instant Messenger work fine.

Delete the file bncache.dat in your Starcraft and Diablo II root directories. Try connecting to Freeserve by adding a Dial Up Networking connection rather than the package.
I'm not sure if they require you to use the package, but you should be able to dial up that way with a number and your username and password.

The Connection was set up as a dial-up connection without using any freeserve software, only the anytime phone number that was used before. I tried connecting before clicking on "Battle.net" But as soon as i clicked on "Battle.net" My connection Disconnected itself, then when i tried recconect all i got was a error message saying "No Dial Tone" So i had to restart my computer to be able to connect again. Its as if Battle.net is trying to connect to something else and isnt recognising my modem.

Hmmmm ive got Starcraft working again i think it might of bin the fact that i needed to download latest DIRECTX for starcraft but Diablo2 LOD still not working. Something else i have noticed is everytime i load D2 that the Realm thing is set on Europe. So i click on it to change it to USEAST but when i do that the Sound seems to CUT OUT. Then i tried clicking on Battle.net to connect but it came up with gateway n discconected me then when i tried recconnecting my modem said "No dial tone" PLZ!!!!!!!! SOMEONE HELP THIS IS SO DAMN ANOYING.
By the way if i havent Mentioned im using Windows ME.
plz i beg everyone plz help!!!!!!!

The fact that you're using WinME probably explains most of your problems.
Try this:
Go to http://www.blizzard.com/patches.
Download and install the latest patch for your game. Don't try to connect with your game itself, do this through the web.
Restart your computer.
Try to connect with the game.

Well basicly im gonna try install WINDOWS XP instead of windows ME but before i do that ill try wat u said and download patch from the site then try connect if not then ill reinstall windows using XP. Ive never used Windows XP before so can anyone tell me wat its like with games and should Diablo2 work on it ?

WinXP should be okay, but you'll need to set up the built-in firewall to allow TCP and UDP traffic on port 6112. That's the port battle.net uses to communicate with your computer.

Thnx to everyone who atleast tried to help me on this subject thnx Shalome especially i just put XP on my computer and D2 works fine better then ever infact plus i didnt realise how nice XP's interface is so easy to use and handle thankyou
