dual boot install

Just bought a new emachine that had xp pre installed. I would like the system to dual boot between XP and 2k advanced server. I tried formatting the harddrive and installing win 2k server, which went fine, but since I only have a restore disk for xp (which is a ghost image) it wants to overwrite the 2k installation. When installing xp first and then 2k, I get a message that "this version of windows is not compatable......"

My question is then. Is this possible? XP will obviously have to be installed first which may or may not be a problem itself. How should the harddrive be partitioned? This is driving me crazy, any help would be greatly appreciated

I would recommend Partition Magic in your case.

Create a second partition ( Partition Magic 7.0 ) ...open the Win2k Cd and create the 4 boot floppys. After The XP install boot up on the floppys and during the install of Win2k it will ask which partition you want to install on..... of course it will be the newly created one ( D: ).... you should be good to go from there.

I downloaded partition magic 7. With xp already installed I ran PM 7. I had one partition (c which was roughly 38g. At this point I decided to resize the partition and once that was completed I would create a new partition with the unallocated space. Everything seemed to go ok, I was prompted to reboot, which I did. I got a message that the changes were being applied then I got a error 100 message that the partition table is bad. If I run partition info, it says no errors found??????WTF!!! This install of XP is a ghost image from a restore cd, could this be a problem?
