lol deport her!

Posted by: Ion Silverbolt

She's not really Jamaican though...hehe Maybe we can ship her to Alaska. I could see her being pulled by a team of snowdogs.

Posted by: Gunslinger

She helped me with money though. She was so l337.

She told me "money is your friend. to succeed in business, you must lie cheat and steal".

I owe her everything.

......and i've had a bit to drink tonight.

woot!

Im not defending her(I hate that damn commercial) but she is no different than Jack from Jack in the Box, Ronald McDonald, Mickey Mouse or any other Mascott/Spokesperson of a company.

Posted by: Spider

Are you trying to say that Ronald Mcdonald is a fake!??!!?!??!

INDEED!

But Grimace, hes real

Posted by: Shalome

LOL I always did call her "Miss Cleo the Ja-Fakin' psychic!"

I have friends from Jamaica. Miss Cleo's accent is not Jamaican in any way, shape or form!

It's a wonder she failed to see that coming ... so much for knowing the future

i have to agree with skyhn here. shes an actress that was hired to make commercials for the company. outside of those commercials, she never made any claims of psychic ability that i know of. its ludicrous that the state is suing her for whatever it is suing her for. she has no control over what that company does. that would be like suing the sysadmin because he provides services to the company.

"For entertainment purposes only."

Blah blah blah, as long as the commercials go away I am fine.

I think them saying that makes it ok for Miss Cleo to be from wherever the **** she wants to be

Posted by: Darky!

They've also been sued for not doing acctual tarrot readings, but instead, reading from a script.

Hehe, last time I checked, fraud was still a crime, entertainment purposes or not...

Posted by: redwench

yes, but cleo (i refuse to use her real name) isnt part of it. unless im mistaken, she is just a hired actress, not a vp of the company.

Posted by: Swilo

Her being jamaiacan, not talking to her, and not getting an actual tarrot reading all have nothing to do with fraud.
The misleading ads, billing schemes, and misbillings are all part of fraud.

Posted by: Erekose

from what i understand (now this is from a friend of a friend who knows somebody's 3rd cousin jethro or some such) they've also been sued because you're supposed to be talking to cleo but in fact you get operators using fake jamaican accents. i dunno its all a sham to me. if she really had any sort of psychic ability im sure she wouldnt waste it on the likes of those that call in, i mean i know i would at least try to take over a small country (maybe a caribbean isle. somewhere warm and sunny) or play the lottery failing world conquest

Posted by: Muggs

sueing Cleo is like sueing those hotty models in the adult phone sex ads

like you see the models and are told its them and who the hell knows what kind of beast your talking to

Posted by: Shalome

That company's been sued all over the country. The ads say to call now and talk to Miss Cleo, get a tarot card reading..
And it turns out you don't get to talk to Miss Cleo, you don't get a tarot card reading (it's a scripted reading, same every time, according to the article I read). Add that to the deceptive billing practices ("Call now for your FREE tarot card reading" and then spend your 5 free minutes giving the operator your billing info and being on hold..), etc, etc..

The whole thing is a sham and a scam, and anyone who falls for it is probably a fairly lonely, upset, or vaguely pathetic person in the first place. I'm all for capitalizing on people's stupidity, but this is ridiculous.

well first off its FREE, that should be a no brainer that somethings no right

I saw one of those ad's the other day on UPN and I recognized one of the model's. I doubt that Linda O'Neil has time in her busy schedule to be doing phone sex. But there are some people that think thats who they are talking to when its the woman from the jerry springer episode "500 lbs. of sweet loving". LOL.
