...for the world's greatest and all-time record-holding (though tragically and untimely deceased) Asteroids players!

In the late 80s, I had my name in top place on every Centipede / Millipede arcade game in town...

so what happened to the cat? and why on earth would you try to save a cat from a height? youre more likely to end up dead than it is. as he proved.

heh red will always remember him as the guy who fell off his roof trying to save his cat now, not as the guy who scored 41+ million points in asteroids. ah well such is the fickle fate of fame. but cmon, he fell of a freakin roof to save a cat

I think I was like 5 or 6 when Asteroids came out. Even then, the first thought that came to my mind was that the controls were setup stupidly for the game.

Lol...what a coincidence that I would create a related Atari topic without knowing this was posted....

Asteroids was addictive. I didn't play it much in the arcades as I had my Atari computer back then. I saved lots of quarters, at the cost of my grades though.

Ion, I thought the controls were perfect.

I want you all to know that you can thank me for making Asteroids so profitable.

For months, I put tons of quarters into those arcades back in 1980.

It's nowhere near as responsive as directional arrow keys would have been. :P

Every button should be easily accessible by a finger or else it's inefficient. In asteroids, you had to move your hand to use thrust or hyperspace.
