I hate parents.

Why do parents suck?
Lets see. Perhaps its a biological thing, you know, something that doesn't kick in until your older. Maybe its because when you get old, you start to loose your grasp on the world and reality.
Anyway, on with the story, my parents came over this morning, dad wanted to look at a friends lawnmower to see if he could fix it, and mom wanted to go talk to some long-time friends that lived in the area. So, it was kind of nice really. My mom sat in my front room gabbing on the phone, and my dad was across the street looking at a lawnmower. Now, I ran out of laundry detergent a few days ago, and since then the laundry has been piling up. I had nothing better to do, so I told my parents I was going to go pick up some laundry detergent. I was gone for less then 15 minutes when I came back to my house only wind up screaming my lungs out in frustration.
You see, my dad is a self proclaimed "computer expert". He took those a+ and computer repair courses, and now he thinks he know more about computers then the rest of the world. Anyway, when I came home, he was WORKING on MY computer, in MY house, in MY basement, useing MY tools. He had the cover off, and was gettin read to unscrew the motherboard. When I asked him what he was doing, he stated that the cable didn't work, so he pulled it apart to have a look see. I snapped right about then. I pushed my dad away, and proceeded to put my computer back together. He tried to come back over and put my video card in himself, but I promptly stopped him. I don't want to be rude, but my old man, doesn't know sh!t about computers. When it was finally back together, I started it up, and it still worked! Even though my father’s shaky hands touched my computer, it still worked.
I was very relieved, until windows started up. I then realized the cable really didn't work, but it worked not 10 minutes before I left. I immediately did a registry restore from yesterdays boot up. Still didn't work. I called the cable company, and they were quite positive it wasn't on their end. So. I then realized that my router had been completely unplugged. When I asked him about it, he said he unplugged it, because he didn't know what it was. I plugged it in, rebooted, and it worked. I was very relieved
I almost lost it. I do in fact, HATE my parents, when they come over to visit, the talking isn't so bad, its there absent mindedness, and sheer idiocy.
Anyway, my parents just left 15 or so minutes ago, and I was never happier to see them leave.
Anyone have any similar storys?

fortunately, mine are dead. anyway, change your locks and hide if they come to visit. do NOT answer the door.

I bet parents are fine before they start raising children through the children's teenage years... 
All of my coworkers are parents. They love to talk about their kids. I tell them "kids are great, as long as they're someone else's and I can give them back..." To which one of my coworkers replied "Boy, that's a pretty immature thing to say!"
To which I replied "Oh, you're just jealous because you've been changing diapers since you were 21 while I was out having a good time...."

yep that about sums it up shal. i love when my niece visits i can play with her, buy her toys that make a lot of noise, etc and as soon as she starts getting pissy i just give her back to my sister

Ug, i'm sick of my parents right now(I still got live with them for a few more months).... they like to bother me a lot or something... My mom goes on rambling "this house is a mess, I hate it" of course the house to me is fine, i can't find where things are and all... and when she does "cleaning" half my stuff ends up in the trash or moved so i can never find it.
My dad just yells at me for being on the computer... I dunno, he is crazy anyway ...
AK tells me to tell them off and move out since they aren't paying for my tuition for college.
Mine I don't hate, they are just annoying, I didn't list much above though.....
oh well, who cares, blah blah blah

yeah, lets all grow up and move on. the whole "parents suck" phase is neither cute or funny. get over it. your life could be alot worse.
and- if your parents suck- its a sure bet that you are going to suck, no matter how hard you try to avoid it.

Hating your parents for petty shit like that is lame. Parents are people like anyone else. They don't deserve to be hated if they have good intentions. Even if they are dumb.

my parents kicked me out of the house when i was 16 and i only got to keep the clothes i was wearing(was laundry day). I havent seen them in about 3 years and do not care too. They send my older brother money when he asks for it but when i was out of work and about to be evicted they some how got broke then a few months later they asked me to take care of my little brother for 2 months and said they would buy me a comp. so after the 2 months my little bro went home and i still havent seen a nice new comp. So i was in need for money again, and they just happened to be broke again. Too bad they are full of shit(my dad makes about $120k a yea). Im just glad they moved across the country and leave me the **** alone.
Parents do not suck.
People that cant raise their kids and help them out suck.

not everyones parents are nice and well meaning. wont even discuss parenting ability, but some people shouldnt have children. my parents and muggs parents are among them.
ion, which road is paved with good intentions? people shouldnt be hated simply for being parents, but the flip side is true also. being parents doesnt make them lovable, or even likable. hitler had good intentions.

It’s not just that. It’s everything. They've done nothing but nag me since I was 6. "Do this, do that" kind of crap. They forced me to play baseball for 7 years, and never ONCE stayed at a game to watch me, and I hated it with a passion. On top of it, they forced me into boy scouts, witch wasn't that bad, but camping sucked. My mother is a packrat. She has trash bags full of clothes that are 20 years old she claims she’s holding onto to give away to someone, but she's been saying that since I was 5 or 6.
My dad is a self proclaimed genius, he believes he can fix anything with wrench and a screwdriver. Not to mention he was never EVER around. He was always, ALWAYS, either in front of the TV, smoking (And to top it off, I normally had to sit in a smoke filled room with him for hours waiting on my mother to get home, and I have athsma), or out at work.
My "Parents" were never really there for me. Hell, they didn't even come to my high school graduation. They had "bossiness" to take care of that was "more important".
Anyway, my parents don't suck half as bad as muggs parents do.

People who continually whine about how bad their parents are just need to stop complaioning and look around. You can always find parents who are worse than your. My dad was(and is) an alcoholic. he won't admit top it tough. He also has done things, while drunk, to my mother and I that i wish upon no one. So eveytime i hear someone complain about how bad their parents are I just want to tell them to stop whinning. I will admit though MUggs ur parents need to be kicked in the head for doing what they have done. Also Darky i can see why you can get so upset about your parents. They shoudl be put in numerous classes that teach them how to love and care for their child. Parents who are to busy with their lives to stop and take care of their children deserve a good kick in the teeth. Peopel need to learn to take responsibility for their actions.

with all due respect to your problems, thats like a double amputee telling a single amputee to quit whining every time they complain. just because you dont have it as bad, doesnt mean you cant complain. its unfortunate we dont require a liscense to raise children.

Agreed. Most forget that their careers end at retirement. Family will be there until death if you treated them fairly. Abuse or neglect is a sure way to ensure that you will be alone and lonely after your so called career is finished.

Let's see, Buscalia said you don't really finish growing up until you've gotten away from your parents for about 20 years, meaning you have to get over your upbringing so you can get on with life. I was relieved to hear that - I thought I was going nuts. Then I realized, it wasn't me, it was my upbringing. So I discarded that parts that didn't fit and stepped on from there. What changes did it make? Not exactly sure, but I think I've done OK so far with my two. They complain about me to my face but about normal stuff like "I can't find a decent paying job! I don't wanna make subs for a living!" and "Mom, it only bothers you cause you're OLD!" But they did tell me I had a cool college picture (long hair is never out of fashion for the young).
I'll say this for my parents: Yes, I did not agree with them on everything but they both had great senses of humor. They were both vets of WW2 and have flags on their cemetary plots. Dad's is stuck in a special holder, different from almost everyone else's. The cemetary office offered to change it, but I said no, it was fine. Dad would have liked the Veteran of the Civil War flag holder.
We all have powerful feelings about our parents. This post has really made me think. Probably our parents had the same happen with them. Part of the human condition I guess. Old parent signing off ROFL

just think your parents werent crazy (with the exception of mine and perhaps a few others) until they had you, until then they were exactly as you are now (hence my crazy parents)
