Darkened Skye's craptastic user interface.

A friend at one of the local computer shops told me about this funny third person game that he was playing. It sounded interesting, so I asked him if he had one in stock. Sure enough he had, and I bought it at $28 Canadian.

The game is Darkened Skye, or should I say was……

I usually never play these types of games, FPS, and RTS being my choice, however, the funny dialog and the irreverence based on skittles was entertaining and kept my interest up. It is your basic find this to open that etc game that drives me up the wall in disgust. But as I said, the humor was delicious.

Anyhow, I got to the third world and accidentally wiped out my saved game. You see, Darkened Skye has a flawed interface. When you start your game, you can quick save it by pressing the F2 key, and reload pressing the F4 key. I died (one of many beforehand) on the third world, and accidentally groped for the keyboard and pressed the Esc key, which automatically loaded me up to the beginning of the game. As I went to reach of the F4 key (which would load up my saved game), I accidentally hit the F2 key. This saved the start of the game. So much for hours and hours of play!

I was not that pleased. I swore up and down (a rarity, but you would understand if you ever played this game because the puzzles are a royal pain in the nether region etc...), and thinking about all the hours lost, promptly uninstalled it from the HDs. I then tossed the CD and manual in the garbage...after running most of what I could past the paper shredder.

Ah that was satisfying.....

chako if you still have thaqt cd lying around and a shotgun, i hear skeetshooting is very enjoyable. my ecology teacher from back in highschool uses those free aol cds you get in the mail or at stores for target practice (bow mostly) and a friend of mine, for a senior portfolio in art, used the aol cds to melt around a mannequin to form a suit of armor (i got to help one day, third time he burned me with the torch i decided that fire = bad)
