Posted by: Xtren
It's not really that much of a holiday. There are a few but parties but I don't really celebrate the occasion with anything special.
Posted by: Muggs
is it that day again?
why the hell is this day so important to have a holiday?

They advise lots taking lots of prescription medications! Visit O.T.S. Daily!!

You should also avoid colourful pictures and stuff that moves.

Well Xtren, I sometimes search around to find something original not used. I find alot of the same avatars and gifs, so I look for that one that is different from all the rest. I've tried to make my own but with no luck. I can do somethings but to design my own I cannot.

Why?
*hic*
Posted by: Bobaroo
ROFL....AHAHA
Posted by: Swilo
The only good thing to come out of this "holiday" is the lowered prices on corned beef and cabbage.
The "parties" (drinking fests) have no place.

I never understood this holiday. People dress in green and drink lots of beer, and it's all blamed on the Irish.

green beer = bad
killian's irish red, a lager, or such other beers are the order of the day. none of that tie dyed pilsner crap they pass of as 'irish'. (not that i drink beer, bit to young still in the us, well at least to do so in public)
Posted by: Chako
Exactly my point!
Posted by: Heathen
I have a question.... is anyone here actually Irish?
I don't mean Irish/American or any of that crap... actually Irish?
If not... why celebrate this stupid day. I'm English, born and breed. I live in Canada now.... but I'm still English.
Not that I've got anything against the Irish..... yeah right!!!!!
I'm also an ex british soldier (8 years served... Kosovo, Bosnia etc)... so I've dealt with the friendly Irish first hand.
I'm not gonna get into it... don't wanna upset anyone amd this is not the Forum for THAT topic.
Let me put it this way.... wait until St George's Day... then I'll party...

I never could understand the Patron saint of England...who wasn't English..but Turkish.
And in your posting...you just listed one of the major problems of Canada to this day, and it has nothing to do with the english either.

What do ya mean?
Posted by: Xtren
-just on a side note:
Funny how we're all talking about Saint Patrick's Day when the holiday was a few days back now.....
Posted by: Canis Lupus
<detour>
they still talk about the JFK assassination, y'know ...
</detour>
Posted by: Erekose
heh well im irish/american (a few generations back) but im also dutch english french-canadien scottish and swedish. so i can pretty much just pick a day to celebrate. st. patricks day is just a day for one part of the family to get together, all it is to us. heh only time it can get ugly is if the dutch and irish are playing in the world cup (heh my oma is tiny but i swear shes gotten pretty close to tossing my opa's tv out the door a few times. and dont even get her started on the patriots. for those that dont know oma is just dutch for grandmother) heh my linguistics lesson for the day
Posted by: Xtren
Hehe, you have a point there, it's just that so far no one has actually said exactly what they did for Saint Patrick's Day, we're just discussing why it is a holiday. Did anybody here actually celebrate the occasion?
Posted by: Erekose
corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, carrots, beer, singing, talking, sitting, coffee, grammy's trifle... what else do i need?
Posted by: Xtren
What you need is a party!
*doesn't get invited*
*feels left out and starts sobbing hysterically*

I was referring to the number of immigrants who are rightfully proud of their heritage, but to the overall detriment of Canada as a unified nation.
I was referring to the major problem of people from other Countries who come to work here and send all their money to their families in their home nation. It has a major economic downturn for Canada...a major problem actually.
So, my comment wasn't towards you...and I feel bad that I didn't clarify it more. Sorry.

If a moderator notices he'll delete it for you, or you can send a message about the post.
Posted by: Erekose
hmm you can try and edit it and delete it yerself i think (dunno though)
Posted by: Xtren
If it's your message then I think you can delete it actually. I've never tried doing it here at OTS but it works at Project404.
Posted by: Canis Lupus
Nope, delete won't work for your own posts, only edit ... only mods can delete posts...
It's there for one reason: accountability
Posted by: Xtren
I didn't think it would work anyway, but I was really surprised to see that I could delete my post at Project404, so I thought there might be a possibility.
