setting up cable router

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

i'm setting up a cable router and it says I need:
-my broadband-configured PC's fixed Internet IP address,
-my broadband-configured PC's computer and workgroup Names,
-my subnet mask,
-my default gateway,
-my ISP's DNS IP address.
where can i find these things?

It depends a bit on the OS you're using. In Window 2000 or XP, goto the Comand prompt and type ipconfig and it will give you some info. Try ipconfig /? for a list of commands if you want more info from it.

Another way you might get more info is to check the network properties of your network card. If they are static values, the entries found there should work.

If you need more help, let us know what OS you're using.

ipconfig just pops up a window and goes away instantly, i can't read anything on it.
and my OS is Win 98

Try winipcfg, then select your NIC.

IPConfig help: After you enter the program name in the Run Menu and click "OK," hit the "Pause" button as fast as you can. Do this until you get the screen to show up.
