Time Machine...

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Kdr Kane

is a piece of crap movie.

Don't waste your money.

And it's a peice of crap movie.....why? Not that I go to the movies all that often, but I'm interested in hearing why so many people keep ranting about how terrible it is....

Posted by: Kdr Kane

I don't want to give anything away.

Why change a classic story? And the classic movie made from the book?

They tried to make a romance/ tragedy out of it.

They used a story that is in the public domain and trashed it. They didn't have to pay money or get buy off on the new story. There isn't any sense to it.

You can move this thread to rants if you want.

I like the old movie

I never go to the movies. I rent them instead. Well, I got dragged along to see Time Machine. Not exactly the one I wanted to see, but I decided to give it a shot.

It sucked. bad.

Posted by: Ion Silverbolt

Well, the fact that it was unpredictable was cool. But in the end, it was just bad science fiction like they make fun of on MST3000.

Posted by: BobSkywalker

i really liked the original
it has that whole antiquated thing going on that all movies made back then have, like the original farenheit 451 movie does, which made it just right
back before you could say "holywood got ahold of it"
which is exactly what happened

even from just seeing previews on tv or whatever i could tell it wasnt going to be as good because i just didnt like how they changed it :\

why must people mess with what works?
can we stick to the book plz? its good for a reason and holywood had nothing to do with it

Posted by: Gerbilo

Me and a friend dragged AK along... the highlight of the movie was when this guy walked in halfway thru with a shirt that said "Reefer madness"

oh yeah, also at the begining when the film cut out and we all started screaming....

wait.. we went to go see a movie?? yeah... not as good as it could have been.

I nvr say the original i thought the new one was OK i think it had really good potential but they just did it really bad.

I just saw that movie last nite. It was ok....but I wont ever ever ever see it again, not even rent it.

Posted by: Erekose

ah well i broke down and saw it today (no worries i didnt pay to see it, got a free ticket from a friend) now i think i understand the story as it went in the movie (hmm rather hard to discuss without giving anything away) and it was an okay story in its own right, but yes why even call it 'the time machine' when it has little (okay, okay nothing whatsoever) to do with the classic? there was a throwback to the original movie (if you were sharp enough to catch it. i never saw the first so i didn't, my father pointed it out) the florist in the 'fluer de lis florist' shop was the actor who portrayed 'mr. philbins' (sp?) the character played by mark addy in this version. if it isn't so, well then let me know.

Thats what the first movie was...

You're right Skyn. But Godzilla always comes back to life so it's not so bad.

Hmmm, hope it doesn't jinx Episode II, which had a killer preview ...

Every godzilla movie has been good with the exception of 98.
They should've named it "huge dinosaur attacks NYC"

Which is why they went back to old school rubber suit style in Godzilla 2000, and hopefully 2003.

I think that is because the Original Japanese Director(or some other japanese director) did the newest Godzilla. Wasnt that one with Mathew Broderick by some American Director?
