Just bought PNY GeForce4MX440AGP...had GeForce2MX200AGP which worked fine. When I installed new card puter will not boot at all...fans spin but no BIOS, beep codes...nothing! System is Win98Se on 1.4 Athlon with FIC AZ11EA Mobo..256 megs memory. Anybody had same issue? This is about to drive me nuttttttttttttz. ANy suggestions appreciated....at this point willing to try anything

Make sure the card is seated properly. Also check this out for un-installing and re-installing drivers

Nope Tweaker..been there done that..numerous times. Have latest BIOS for mobo all drivers up to date. This one has me stumped(actually everyone at the moment). Will try few more things then will return card and get different card. Start over again I guess. Thanks!

I strongly urge you to return the MX440 card and get a Ti 4200,, or 4400 or 4600

The MX4x0 series are cheap cards that are meant more for business use, they are even not as good as the GF2s. They are based on early GF 2 architecture at best.

Well, I'd say there probably better than a GF2, but not a GF3. The GF4 MX series is lacking the DX8 functions that the GF3 has.
And when you consider that you can pick up a Ti200 GF3 for about $150, a GF4 MX card doesn't seem like much of a option to me.

Never-the-less, if you've got the latest BIOS and you can't even reach a Post, um, ... check your mobo out for any jumpers or DIP switches that could affect the AGP slot. Also, boot with the old card and go into your BIOS and set all/any AGP settings to the default levels.

Other than that, you might be SOL. ???

BTW, @ 9:31am 3/19/02 PST, newegg.com has/had a Ti4600 from PNY in-stock for $415, for anyone who wants to know.

Also, the only reason I could think to get a GF4 MX over a GF3 (anything) would be for DVD playback, the GF4 has better detail for software DVD playback.

Thanks for input guys...took GeForce 4 back and got the GF3 Ti 200 and it is working flawlessly.
