Posted by: uh...ok

Dude there ARE definite integrals... a definite integral is the area underneath a curve, with set limits. Nothing paradoxical about that.

-uh...ok

Posted by: JeraalMordeth

I know what a Definite Integral is, I took wayyyy too many math classes in college, I was making a joke about how it can be difficult to figure out if you actually have the right answer because they can take up pages and pages to solve.

as in "I DEFINITELY do not have the solution to this DEFINITE Integral at the moment

ƒ(x)=

Hmmm.....

If y = f(x) is a function of the variable x, the derivative of y = f(x) at some x=a, is the rate of change of the function with respect to x at a. The derivative is often (but invariably some student will not...so that makes this statement moot for those guys)interpreted as the slope of the graph of y = f(x) and is usually written dy/dx or f'(x). Now, for f(x) = x^3, f'(x) = 3x^2, thus the rate of change of x^3 at x = 4 is 3 x 4^2 = 48....ack.....goes into convulsions.

I hated Calculus. Had to take 3 classes of the stuff...Now if I can only forget those memories….

Slightly off topic here...can't have that, so here are some more oxymoron...hmm....looking at what I have just written...I think I might be the former excluding the latter.

Butt Head?

Posted by: JeraalMordeth

Couldn't figure out how to make an antiderivative symbol and accidently submitted that in mid thought....

BTW there are Definite Integrals which either have no solution or that have solutions that cannot be determined....such as certain oscillating functions and certain infinite integrals...

here are some more oxymorons
