Black Frozen Screen

I've got a question. I installed Diablo 2 and ran the test it asks you to run at the end. After I was done with all of that, I clicked the icon on my desktop and I got a frozen black screen AND an error message to go with it. I hit Alt+Tab to read what the error message said and it is as follows.

Diablo 2 Server Error
Assertion Failure
Location: C:\D2\Source\D2Direct3D\Src\d3dTextureCache.cpp,
line #82
Expression: tCache->nMaxNumItems

I am running Windows XP Home Edition with a 1.47 GB AMD Athlon XP Processor, 512MB SDRAM, 80 GB Hard Drive (So Space is not the problem), and I am not exactly sure what kind of video card or sound card I have. The box that my computer came is says that I have Integrated Savage4 AGP 3D Graphics with 8MB Allocated as Video Memory.

I had previously installed it before and had the same problem so I downloaded the patch and got another error message. I wish I remembered what it was. So that's why I uninstalled it and installed just the Multiplayer Option. Please let me know if you know what could be my problem.

Thanks.

Noby

Run the video test prog again and choose directdraw, not direct3d, that will probably solve the problem.

So do I need to uninstalled the program again and reinstall it? I do not know how to run that option.

It's the video test thingy that comes with the game, dunno what it's called exactly cuz I use a special way to install the game, no icons included
Anyway, yours should be in the start menu in the Diablo2 group.
If you can't find it there, it's on your hd too in the folder you installed the game into, it's called D2VidTst.exe.
