Lately when I open more than one window in I.E. 6 I sometimes get this I.E. caused a kernel 32dll error!! I tried re-installing I.E. 6, I tried repair, I tried scan disk, Norton Utilities,I tried deleting my password file, tried deleting swap file, to create a new one, I'm baffled on this one. Anyone has any other ideas I surely would appreciate it. Can't understand why this happens only when opening more than one window in I.E.
Thanks for any input on this.
This is the error I get, power mgt. is off and no screen saver selected.
IEXPLORE caused a stack fault in module KERNEL32.DLL at 017f:bff7429f.

Like I said this only happens when I'm opening more than one window in I.E. then closing them, I get that error.

Also how much HD space do you have and are you letting windows control VM.
I also suggest you run a check on your memory using something like GoldMemory 5.07
This can be downloaded from this boards

I've noticed that any kind of error that causes problems with kernel32.dll is usually only repairable by reinstalling Windows. Most of the time it is software related.
What version of Windows is this Tweak?

Win 98se, I re-installed twice, I have checked memory, you name it I tried it. This only happens when I have more than one window open in Explorer and try to close one of them. Funny thing is, this does not happen all the time. I just don't get it, i checked for viruses, nothing, I tried re-installing I.E. and repair still happens. I did not think when this started happening I would not be able to fix it, but I can see this one is going to be a challenge.

I assume you've been downloading the Windows updates from Microsoft?

The only thing Microsoft says as a possible cause is Mcaffee virus scan running while you close the web browser.
"To work around this issue, disable the Internet Scan, E-mail Scan, and Internet Filter functionality in the McAfee software. "
Kernel 32 errors can be caused by a number of things. Software and hardware conflicts, a failing or corrupted hard drive, or memory are all big causes of it.

Yea, got all the Windows updates. I seen that Ion about McAfee I have everything disabled. Oh well, thanks everyone for the suggestions don't know what else to do. Maybe it will go away on it's own. Not!

Try running sfc (system file checker) from the run prompt...it will check all the system files that are registered to windows.

Thanks Bob, I did that and then some. Every now and then it pops up. I haven't seen it in a while so I knock on wood. Funny this only happens with multiple windows open in I.E. 6
