Keyboard problems

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Alright, sometime while I was watching a movie earlier the keyboard cut out, as it's happened two other times that I can think of, I rebooted (it had fixed it before.) So when it was booting the three lights on the keyboard flash, so it's getting a signal (PS/2) but then when it asks for my password on the POST screen nothing on the keyboard works. So I'm like what the shit, I go snag the keyboard from this machine and try it, same thing, gets a signal then doesn't work.
So I try using USB, I can enter the password and get passed that, but after it detects my RAID, I get to another screen to select an OS, Win98se or Win2k setup (incomplete install from awhile back) The keyboard stops working at this screen under USB, and it defaults on Win2k so I can't get into windows. I'm thinking the PS/2 port died or something, hmm, is there anything I can do short of replacing the motherboard? If I could get into windows I'm fairly sure I could install the USB drivers and use the other keyboard, but that seems impossible at the moment, I'm quite frustrated if you can imagine.

AMD 1333 Tbird
KT7A-RAID
512MB PC133
MS Natural Keyboard Pro
Up to date BIOS and drivers
win98se (not that it matters 'cause I can't access it)

So what was wrong and how did you solve it?

c'mon, make me laugh

Well, I'm still assuming the PS/2 is dead and/or dying. And the USB keyboard that I plugged in wasn't working instead of my other because at the screen where you pick the OS it's DOS or something and the USB won't work there, but Wargy meantioned setting USB keyboards to BIOS (which I had set for OS, unknowingly, stupid defaults, bleh!)
So I just had to reinstall the USB driver once I got to the OS, and rearrange my USB (Win98 wouldn't detect my mouse in USB2, heh) So now all is well, without PS/2 flakiness
Crisis averted!
I owe Wargy a beer.

I am hiaving the same problem.
I have a KT7a. Similarly, when I boot the lights on the keyb oard flash, but once the computer starts booting, the keyboard does not respond. It often just gets cut of in the Windows as well. When this happens I just unplug the keyboard and plug it back in. It usually works within fewq attempts but at times it does not work at all... so I kave to restart few times and play around until it does. I tried a different keybaord and everything, but nothing helps.

If anyone has a solution to this problem it would still help heaps!
