Updated NForce Drivers, News on 2D Quality

v1.05 of the nVidia nForce 220D/415/420/420D platform drivers are now available here.

nVidia only recommends these drivers if you experience problems with your current motherboard specific drivers. This version includes some compatability fixes and support for rear channel sound.

The Inquirer has a story up with information they obtained from an Graphzilla engineer concerning some nVidia based graphic cards poor 2D image quality. More:

Nvidia is working on this problem since the time of Geforce 3 TI 500 when we first time urged them to do something about this and we saw nice progress on Geforce 4 TI cards and learned that the real improvement will come in NV30 where engineers will pay special attention to this problem.

The company realises that the problem comes from some of their 15 or more partners who still have the freedom to use capacitors, resistors, RF filer parts or any other small component when making that Geforce cards. Some use cheap low quality components, you'll be horrified to learn.

nVidia's is not yet forcing a solution, but is heavily stressing these manufactures to stick to nVidia's reference recommendations.

I keep hearing about how nVidia has poor 2D quality, yet I dont see any poor quality on my Desktop.

I have a system with a Matrox G400 Max next to the one with a GF3. The MAtrox owns it in 2D.
