We live 25 miles from Merced! No wonder I can't breathe!

heh ellen. 25 miles is far enough to drop the ppm much lower. your area could conceivably have no significant air pollution. the air quality (at least in toledo) is measured at 4 stations around the city. but you drive 10 miles out, and youre in farmland and woods. with little pollution, at least of ozone.
if you want to know if ozone is aggravating your condition, contact the local (as in 5-10 miles) city evironmental dept, or the epa. theyll be able to give you high and average measurements. if you dont have anything larger than a villiage within 10 miles, and no major industry, then ozone isnt increasing your difficulties at home, at least.

Thanks RW
But even the local newspapers, my physician and pulmonlogist (sp?) say that this whole damn valley is horrible and Wolf and I are too damn old to move now, anyway! hehe ..... but it is just depressing when MSN and the American Lung Association confirms it! hehe

oh, yes, if youre in a valley, it traps everything. why dont you move out of the valley, but stay in the area?

Ellen you and wolf aren't too "old" to move! To stubborn, maybe.. Just kidding!
My grandparents last moved when they had both just turned 70. They HAD to move (their neighborhood they'd lived in for 50 years was getting bad) -- so they made their kids and grandkids come in, box everything up, put it in a moving van, and unload it all at the new house. My grandpa just got up off the porch, picked up his dog, drove to the new house, and sat down on the new porch with his dog. It was great.
My grandmother had a heyday ordering everyone around from her seat in the new kitchen.
