I place this here because I think it belongs here.
Since I can't place it in the proper thread...due to overzealous thread closings, I will place my last comments here.
I agree with Swilo...and then I don't. What is the purpose of having discussions if people over react to them. I have noticed this in the console threads all the time. Comments like fanboys are thrown around like it explains everything...meanwhile it is just a poor excuse to put people down or to excuse their behaviours/ideas simply because people don't agree with it. You will note that the vast majority of people in here seem to be of the opinion that their ideas are correct, and far be it for anyone to disagree with them. Bha!
A word to everyone...if you don't like em..you don't have to coment on em.
I was ticked off at Swilo's blatant attacks on Janna. Seems like I have seen this before. Now I have had many run ins with Janna...and I don't agree with him, however, if one isn't allowed to comment freely on his/her opinions on these forums free of personal attacks..why have discussions at all? This is a major pet peeve of mine..and one I see crop up all the time.
Furthermore, the way that Swilo handled it was juvenile. My comment was not geared towards his message...but in the way he expressed it.
I think I should probably distance myself for a time being. I have noticed that more and more people are getting childish.
I can no longer enjoy good discussions on topics anymore in here like I used to 8 months ago because there is no more dept to the discussions ....instead, it boils down to cat fights over stupidities and inanities. With people clamouring for thread closures as soon as there is a disagreement...who needs this crap!

A debate becomes stupid when people start taking comments personal and/or start hurling insults at one another.
Frankly, I find it hilarious that some people get mad over a silly console thread. Consoles are something that's for enjoyment. There's no point in getting mad about X-Box vs. PS2 threads. Anyone can enjoy both. So you like one over the other. That's nice.
It boils down to respect. You don't have to like an opinion or even another member, but if you can keep your responses respectful, people will show the same in return. It will also keep the boards pleasant to read for everyone.

im getting tired of people announcing their departure, being begged to stay, and then not leaving. MAKE A DECISION AND STICK TO IT. its like an 8 year old saying hes gonna take his ball and go home. if you want to leave, fine, do it. if you dont, fine also. but stop with the temper tantrums and manipulations.

Warning of suspension
Once again you take the liberty to attack the mods. Even after being repeatedly warned.
I'm pushing for a one week suspension or more. Whether it happens or not depends on Laggy's final dicision.

Well, this has certainly turned into a pretty sizeable shitstorm... Why do you people always do these things when I'm asleep?
Anyway, my thoughts on this issue / non-issue:
First off, four words: You can't please everyone.
I don't know why some people here take offense in ANYTHING said, or why they take everything personally. It's not that I didn't give a statement already regarding forum topics and how you should treat every post with a grain of salt. Some people are really confrontational in nature. It's probably how they act in real life, I don't know.
Chako: If you need some time off from the forums, do so. We'll miss ya, but I won't stop ya.
Ellen: While we appreciate your thoughts, it is not appropriate to quote private messages. How would you feel if I quoted the private message you just sent me? Or someone else's for that matter? There is a time and a place, and unfortunately, quoting a private message was inappropriate. You should know that.
And you have been warned before for flaming other people in the forums. Unfortunately, since you already got a warning, you would have to get the same one-week suspension Swilo got. No one is above the rules here in OTS.Net, and examples should be made.
Everyone: Due to insistent public demand (and I say that with a very thick trace of sarcasm), Nova has submitted his resignation as moderator of these forums. I haven't yet approved it, but like some of you people, he is pretty sick of being targetted and castigated for doing his chores.
While some of you people may have already started rejoicing, I tell you this: Nova is one of the most active moderators in these forums. This is not to say that he is the only one who does the job, but him and Ion are the most visible in terms of moderation duties. And it is actually quite funny that two of the hardest working moderators are also the most "hated" by some people here.
I have a lot of things to say but I'm just torn between laughing out loud or heaving the proverbial sigh of exasperation at these turn of events. It is true that even the most mature, respectable people can act like unruly children given the right (or wrong) circumstances. There should be a scientific study about this behavior on the internet. Seriously.
Anyway, I STRONGLY urge that everyone grow up and act like educated individuals. I don't give these "controversial" issues much thought on the grand scale of things, the same way you should not treat a kid crying coz he lost his balloon as a reason to stop what you're doing.
The moderators work for the best interest of the site. It's not for YOUR interest, or for anyone else's. When you clicked on the AGREE button when you signed up for these forums, you agreed to the standing guidelines. If you do not agree, then you are breaching the agreement you made when you signed up for the forums. Hence, there is absolutely no reason for anyone to vehemently question the state of affairs in the forums on the administrative level. This site does not have a gridlock on you or your life. It's as easy to not visit it as it is to do so. I would not be happy if anyone leaves, but as I have reiterated before, I won't stop anyone who wants to leave. It was their choice to join, hence it is also their choice to leave.
And since most of those who complain don't bring it to my attention in the first place (amidst all my posts to do so), then they are clearly not intent on following all the rules set by these forums. I don't know, it probably gives some people a sense of satisfaction to publicly humiliate or criticize other people and make themselves look good.
Boy, this is a load of shit to write, and I want to say more. Unfortunately, I don't have the time nor the inclination to further "educate" some people here again and again.
This particular topic is no big deal to me. It has happened so often that I am looking forward to the next topic where people say they want to leave. If it makes your lives better to not visit or participate these forums, then by all means, leave. We're not stopping ya. I would rather have people who post some support answers than those who do nothing but bicker, bitch and moan. The good people in these forums don't deserve it.
If you feel this is a bit harsh, big ****in deal. You don't know what harsh is...
