Glow Bug

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Tarkus

I've been speaking with Microsoft about the bug where the glow on your weapon disappears from time to time. I'm going to show them the results to the poll if the problem is not addressed in the uncoming patch.

Please respond regardless of whether you've seen the problem. Also, no matter what your response please post your operating system and video card. Also, describe any conditions you think might contribute to the problem. Thank you very much for your cooperation.

Windows 98SE

GeForce2 GTS

People have told me weapons with + skill modifiers may be an issue, and that gear with + skill modfiers also may contribute to the problem.

Actually, I told ya I thought this was evident when you have +str equipment, like armor and rings. I solved this once by completely stripping myself of all +str equipment and then equipping the "glow" weapon, and then re-equipping the +str stuff.

Right now the glow has a problem with my armor, I think, as the glow comes back when I equip another piece of armor...

yeah, its definitely related to what you're wearing - ive seen multiple instances where it was related to breast plates...

i was holding a game so atma could switch bp with one on a mule so he tossed down his bp
got new one
rejoined with original character and his weapon had particles from loading without a bp
never seen the particles before that time and they havent left since they appeared

HELLO TARKUS I HAVE CREATED AN ACCOUNT AND RESPONDED TO YOUR POLL AS YOU SO KINDLY ASKED I AM COURTEOUS AND FUN LOVING HEHEHE

the problem isn't just isolated to the client end because no one else in the game sees the particles either once they are ninja'd away
but just for record: geforce2/win98

sometimes some of the particles will appear and just a few will be missing, and they will show up later on and you'll be like HEY LOOK PRETTY SUNSHINE HELLO WHERE DID YOU COME FROM
other times no particles will show at all

as for if its related to equipment or whatever I DONT KNOW ITS SO HARD TO TELL ITS SO COMPLETELY random and there is no fix i could ever do for myself yes yes bob says OH JUST RE EQUIP YOUR BP THEY WILL ALL COME BACK HEHEH I LIKE SHINY THINGS
but that never works for me
except in that instance he explained above where i rejoined the game after

I honestly haven't noticed this before, I probably just wasn't paying that much attention.

Friday's holy patch will lead us to the promised land of a less buggy Dungeon Siege....

(and it will spark me to play once again, if the FPS bug is fixed ::Fingers Crossed:

I think the glow seems to reactivate when you enter a new area or go through doors and seems to stop glowing after you have talked to npcs.

Posted by: Xtren

That's quite probable, I don't see what the big deal is though.

Posted by: Canis Lupus

once you get addicted to the purty glowing particles, it becomes a big deal

have noticed the same thing about certain pieces of armor and such not allowing the glow. I have also noticed that if you switch from a glowing axe to cast your spell and switch back, the glow might disappear, might not though. I had a wound mallet that glowed pretty green when I first got it but after equipping some newer chainmail (ac 319, looks cooler that full plate : ) it never glowed again. If I unequiped the chain, glow. I am happy with my green-pointy kill kill though so no lost sleep here.

That's happened to me too before. It only lasts a little while though. After a few seconds you have the weapon again.

Posted by: uh...ok

My weapon lost its glow for the first time last night.

OOOO Shiny....

Then other things start to go wrong, and suddenly there's a man knocking at your door. Then you get taken away....... and so on and so forth.

Posted by: Evil Spilit

My other weapons lost their glow as well, but that was because I ran out of ammo and the local sporting goods stores were closed.

Posted by: Xtren

In that case the glow was supposed to go away.
