That we forfeit real life?

I dont think any amount of time spent playing video games is too much. If anything, most people spend too little time playing them

i think there comes a point when you can play too much. that point is when you start to sacrifice your real life responsiblities in order to play games. thats when it becomes not good.

Well for some of us, real life isn't all that great. Having forms of entertainment such as games and movies is benefitial IMO.
It's like anything, too much can be bad. But now and then I think it is a good thing. Especially for us who aren't socially adept.

reality isnt all that great.
too bad i gotta work to provide the money so i can escape it.
i dont understand why people flock to religions lead by child rapists or murderers (islam). i dont understand why its so important that the other guy not be allowed to worship/believe/live as they choose. we got a police force and government here that spends billions of dollars hunting down pot smokers while beer guzzlers are the leading cause of traffic fatalities yet the cry to do something about violence is always aimed at the gun owners.... heh makes no sense to me.... so i prefer to spend as little time as possible in the real world.

While I believe it's important for us to spend as much time as possible in the real world, gaming can certainly provide a nice respit. With that being said I couldn't agree more with the rest of this quote.

The murderers tag can be applied to almost all religions, especially anything decended from catholic religions.
But that aside, RL is only exciting until you get caught, so I prefer to play games instead. The only thing that's truly fun IRL involves either criminal activity or dying, and that doesn't turn out all that fun in the end.

as with most things "its all fun and games till someone gets an eye out". and in my experience it's REALLY hard to put out an eye gaming. soooo the more the merrier! and i agree with janna as well. and i'll add this: the way i look at it, religion is just another way to controll the masses. i think thats why it became so popular. especially the monotheistic ones with a central leader. and i have no doubt that's why throughout history, monarchs used "divine right" to rule and all that.... ANYWAY. yay gaming!!! WOOOOO

Religion is a crappy game.

i just used two religions that are the main thrust of the news of late catholic priests and islamics
perhaps i should have just put *insert religous ideology here*

Wasnt there a Star Trek: TNG episode years ago where they found a planet with only like 2 people living, and they were playing a mech game, but with real mechs and they pretty much destoryed the whole world? Their houses and everything were nice but the rest of the world was destoryed. They had turned the game into reality.
That maybe could happen someday...

Whoa, I gotta check out that episode.
I doubt two people are going to destroy the world playing videogames. There is such a thing as too much videogames, and that's when you play so much your relationship with your wife/husband deteriorates, you can't pay your bills anymore, etc.

I think the episode you're thinking of is where the pacifist, omnipotent alien (who happened to assume human form) watched the planet he resided on be razed (and his human wife killed) rather than take a life.
In his grief he recreated his house and wife while the rest of the planet remains uninhabitable. Enterprise recieves orders to investigate, Troi gets a headache, Picard & co. save the day, and they all ride Data into the sunset...............
[Intermission]
Now then back on topic..........
Gaming is an addiction. Some learn to control it, while others don't. Speaking from personal experience, I drew the line when I stayed up 24 hrs. playing D2 without eating anything but beer.

My gaming time is healthy, I recommend everyone to do it. About 40 hours a week, but I still have time to 'hang out' with friends, go watch movies, do homework.
Theres a lot of time in a week.

Maybe for someone who doesn't have to support themselves :P
I'm lucky if I can dredge up 5 hours in a week to game nowadays.

"do we spend too much time playing games?"
You spend too much time thinking. Just do what makes you happy while taking care of yourself.
